THE first phase of the EDFL Team of the Decade (2010-2019) selection process is complete, with the selection panel unveiling its initial 40-man squad.
The squad is littered with dozens of EDFL superstars, including:
- 5 x Reynolds Medallists (Premier Division B&F)
- 4 x Reg Rose Medallists (Premier Division Grand Final best-on-ground)
- 3 x Hutchison Medallists (Division 1 B&F)
- 2 x David McWilliam Medallists (Division 1 Grand Final best-on-ground)
Of the 40 players selected, 25 of them have donned the famous red and black jumper in EDFL representative games, including four-time league representatives Dean Galea, Fort Caruso and Stephen Brewer.
The squad has also combined for a total of 47 club best-and-fairest awards and 51 premiership medals throughout the decade.
Greenvale accounts for the most representatives in the squad, with 10 Jets players making the first cut.
In total, there are 14 EDFL clubs represented within the 40.
The five-man selection panel, including league CEO Craig Armstead, Media Manager Adem Saricaoglu, former Media Manager Teo Pellizzeri and EDFL Media contributors Adam Russell and Adrian Jamieson, will re-convene in mid-December to select the final 22.
The final EDFL Team of the 2010s, including the coach and captain, will be revealed in late December.
