Vale Sal Rees

A true pioneer

The EDFL sadly acknowledges the passing of one of the great people involved in footy, Sal Rees.

Sal was heavily involved at Pascoe Vale FC and was highly regarded as an incredible club person.

"Sal’s ability to interact with all ages and have everyone feel at ease, was a beautiful gift," Pascoe Vale FC said in a statement.

"No job was too big or small, with Sal’s selfless nature assisting the sporting community in whatever was required.

"Always up for a laugh and good time, leaving us with cherished memories to last a lifetime."

Before her involvement with the Panthers, Sal was a pioneer in women's football and made headlines in 1995 when she became the first and only female to nominate and be accepted in the AFL draft.

A VFLW Life Member and forever a Pacco icon, Sal will be sorely missed.

Sal's funeral will be at 1:30pm on January 3 at Joyce Chapel, Fawkner Cemetery.

Rest in Peace, Sal.
