Strathmore Community Bank Men's Weekend Outlook - May 13th, 2022

By Jordan Zoch

Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division continues to surprise, with a blockbuster clash ahead of us this weekend.

After their amazing post siren winner, East Keilor face their toughest challenge yet, an away trip to Clifton Park.

The also undefeated Abers, coached by Adam Marcon, stand in the way of a 6-0 ledger for the Cougars, a herculean effort for a club freshly promoted this season.

Coming off the back of a strong performance away to Glenroy, Aberfeldie will be looking to their experienced squad to ensure they reclaim top of the ladder and stay undefeated.

Sitting 0-5 is never a great way to start the season, with both Avondale Heights and Glenroy hoping to light a spark under themselves as they clash at Canning Reserve.

An ultra-accurate Round 5 performance from the Stars wasn’t enough to get them over the line against an inaccurate Greenvale.

A 4-1 placed Keilor side await at Joe Brown Oval, and after a strong performance last week, players like Matthew Clarke and Mitchell Ellis will be looking to build and advance their strong body of work.

Could we see Greenvale pounce on an uncharacteristic start by Strathmore?

With both clubs precariously placed on a 2-3 ledger, could we see Darren Bewick throw the magnets around and cause another upset? Or will the home advantage prove too strong for a Strathmore side needing a win to keep in touch with the top 4.

After two weeks of Covid exclusions and a gut-wrenching loss, Maribyrnong Park face the 4th placed Pascoe Vale at home.

For the Panthers, they could see themselves as high as 2nd on the ladder if results fall their way, a win vital for both sides.

The big clashes continue through the divisions as the two remaining undefeated sides in Strathmore Community Bank Division One lock horns for top spot on the ladder.

After impressive starts to the year Both Airport West and Tullamarine come into the round with a 5-0 record beside their names.

Two close wins against Rupertswood and West Coburg have seen Tullamarine stay undefeated, a trip to the 'Nest in the West' providing the backdrop for the titanic clash.

DS Aitken Reserve sees Craigieburn up against Rupertswood with the Justin Sherman coached side hoping to improve upon their current 1-4 record.

The Sharks off the back of a close loss to Tullamarine, are after a win to stay in touch with the top 4.

A topsy-turvy season for both Moonee Valley and the Sunbury Kangaroos comes to a head on Saturday, as the pair fight out for their first win of the season.

The game provides an opportunity for players like Jack Vivian to fire and regain his early season goalkicking form to push the Valley over the line.

Our second top 4 tussle of the weekend takes place at Shore reserve, as the Burgers and Pies face off for the points.

Coming off the back of two straight losses West Coburg will be eager to regain their early season momentum and propel themselves back up the pointy end of the ladder.

After both breaking their streak of losses in Round 5, Westmeadows and Hillside clash to continue their winning ways.

Willowbrook Reserve plays host as the sides look to improve off their 2-3 standing.

The completion of the split round this weekend sees three games take place and after a cracker last week, the remaining games look to be captivating.

The Nena and Pasadena Match of the Day van returns to Strathmore Community Bank Division Two with a trip to Martin Reserve for a blockbuster local rivalry of Hadfield taking on the Northern Saints.

Returning to the winners list last start with a strong performance against Coburg Districts, Brett Pitts’ side will look to capitalise on the performance.

The inform Mark Sabatino has another opportunity to add to his impressive 11 goals for the season, off the back of 6 against the Districts.

On the flip side Tamer Abdallah’s Saints have endured three straight losses after defeating Jacana to start the season.

Being his first year at the helm, Abdallah has prefaced building culture and strong values ahead of performance.

But with the broadcast van present, this game provides the best opportunity to showcase their growth and grab the 4 points.

Be sure to tune in to the Nena and Pasadena Match of the Day from 2pm on Saturday thanks to Cluch TV and 98.9 North West FM to catch all the action.

Ladder leaders Oak Park take a trip to Cole Reserve this weekend, facing a Coburg Districts side looking to overturn their losing fortune.

The Tom Gleeson coached Districts sit 7th on the ladder at 1-3 and will be hoping to turn their fortunes around.

The final game of the round has Jacana visiting Burnside Heights' home away from home, Brookside Reserve.

An extra weeks rest for the sides may prove vital and could be just what Jacana needed, as they continue to chase that ground breaking first win of the season.
