WEST COBURG v ST ALBANS
Saturday 2:15pm at Greenvale Recreation Reserve
West Coburg takes on St Albans in a preliminary final at Greenvale Recreation Reserve this Saturday afternoon for a place in the decider against Maribyrnong Park.
West Coburg head into this week's match with mixed results from their previous finals games this season.
The Burgers defeated Hillside by 20 points in the qualifying final two weeks ago but came up short by 24 points against Maribyrnong Park in their semi final last week.
The loss was in large part due to their inaccurate goal kicking that saw them score an astonishing 20 behinds to just the five goals.
The Saints head into this week's preliminary final in good form having won their first two finals.
They defeated Oak Park by 14 points in the elimination final and Hillside by 52 points in an upset win in last weekend's semi final.
The two sides faced each other just the one time this season back in Round 11, in that match it was West Coburg who were victorious by 22 points despite their inaccurate kicking.
Omar Saad was huge in front of goals during that game booting four majors, as Liam Bowkett and Tom Baravi were also among the best for West Coburg.
While for St Albans, Bill Sam and Jake Galea had great games and will no doubt be crucial for the Saints this week as well.
One to watch for the Saints is Bol Kolang who has been in brilliant form during the finals series having scored seven goals in the Saints' last two matches.
Kolang did not play the last time these sides met and adds some size against a defence featuring the likes of Bowkett and Dane Lucas – ranked first for intercept marks.
