GREENVALE v ABERFELDIE – Semi Final 2

Saturday @ Windy Hill – Radio Game

THE two best sides in the competition throughout the 2017 season go toe to toe and what a game it is going to be.

This is sure to get heated and fast.

The two met twice across the year, both games definitely not disappointing as the Gorillas handed Greenvale their first loss out of two for the season by a small margin of 20 points.

However, the second time around Aberfeldie didn’t get as lucky, losing to the minor premier by 22 points.

At least Abers won’t have to travel to Section Road this weekend.

Aberfeldie knows that after their loss to Keilor last year in the Grand Final that they need to win this time around, and the team standing in their way at the moment is Greenvale – probably the toughest competitor of the competition.

They will look to shut down Addam Maric, a challenge that has been too difficult for most teams over the course of the year.

However, it’s something that needs to be done in order for Aberfeldie to win.

Courtenay Dempsey and Paul Chapman, if they are to play, will be the players Aberfeldie will definitely be watching as well.

Greenvale, on the other hand, have to be careful.

With the poise of Josh Toy and Ryan Allan, the Jets will be sure to stay tight on those two to reduce their possessions as they use the ball so well by hand and foot around the ground.

Kyle Reimers and Joel Madden will definitely be Aberfeldie’s go-to options up forward and Greenvale may find they need to lock down on these two if they are getting too much of the pill.

These two teams never fail to entertain and this game will be fantastic to watch.

MARIBYRNONG PARK v STRATHMORE – Semi Final 1

Sunday @ Windy Hill – Radio Game

The last time Maribyrnong Park played in the Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division finals was back in 2012, as they were knocked out by the Jets in the Preliminary final.

A fair reason to give as to why the Lions will come out harder, faster and more switched on than ever this weekend against the Mores.

A shaky start, which then turned into a steady season has put Strathmore in a very comfortable position going into this weekend.

With a full team’s worth of injuries at the start of the year, they have managed to turn it around and have won against all of the top sides in the competition, however, this is when it matters most.

If the Mores can produce a full squad this weekend they will definitely be a tough side to beat.

However, the Lions have proven across the year that they can win, having beaten Strathmore easily in Round 1 and only going down by four points in Round 10.

Jock Cornell and Will Martiniello led by example in that game, as they have plenty of times throughout the season and Strathmore will need to be on top of those two from the first bounce to shut them down.

With Adam Iacobucci missing the last few weeks it will be interesting to see if he gets up for the first final.

Seeing as he was best-on against the Lions last time around, he will definitely be a much-needed player.

Matthew Little up forward kicked four goals and was all over the Maribyrnong Park defenders, so they will certainly look to close him down as much as possible.

A win for either side puts them into the Preliminary Final, and one step closer to the ultimate goal.

Who will be victorious?
