Season Preview 2021 - Moonee Valley

#RoadTo2021

2019 RECAP

Moonee Valley secured a double chance with a 10-5 home-and-away record despite dropping its opening two games of the season.

After toppling Jacana in Round 4, the Fog only lost three more games before the finals, two of which were against undefeated eventual premier, Sunbury Kangaroos.

The Valley dominated Burnside Heights in the Preliminary Final to qualify for its first Grand Final since 2013, where despite a brave effort, the Fog were eventually outclassed by the Kangaroos to the tune of just 16 points.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

There's no way the Fog is going to be able to shake the 'favourites' tag coming into the 2021 season given it has lost barely anyone of note and added a huge amount of extra depth to its squad over an 18-month period.

All five 'Team of the Year' entrants from 2019 are still at the Valley, including the division's reigning best-and-fairest, Cory McGrath (pictured).

Until we see the selected 25-man squad the day before its Round 1 blockbuster at Burnside Heights, the exact make-up of Moonee Valley's best 22 is still anyone's guess, but what we do know is the handful of new additions will only add to what is already a formidable line-up that Shanon Carrol, perhaps the division's best coach, has at his disposal.
