Season Preview 2021 - Glenroy

#RoadTo2021

2019 RECAP

Glenroy was second only to relegated Airport West as the division's leakiest back line in 2019, but its overall defensive output was a vast improvement on the year before.

The Roys recovered well from a poor start to 2019 and went on to pick up four wins and a draw to ensure another year in the EDFL's top flight.

A one-point win over preliminary finalist Strathmore and a draw against semi finalist Pascoe Vale showed just how competitive Glenroy can be against the division's best, but week-to-week consistency was lacking for the Roys in 2019.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

Glenroy needs new avenues to goal following the departure of 2019 leading goal kicker Adam Winter, but the expected returns of Aaron Kite and Mitch Mills, combined with most of the 2019 core group staying intact, should hold the Roys in good stead.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly how many new names we'll see on the team sheet come Round 1 at home at Maribyrnong Park, but with a healthy list of new arrivals coming to Sewell Reserve, it's safe to assume we'll see a few.

Glenroy is one of those sides who could improve, hold or slide in 2021, and their first two encounters against similarly-matched opposition could be telling as to which way the Roys will go this year.
