Season Preview 2021 - Essendon Doutta Stars

#RoadTo2021

2019 RECAP

Essendon Doutta Stars was Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division's lowest scoring team in 2019, with no individual player kicking more than 17 goals across the entire season.

The absence of key forward Alex Boyse, who only played eight games, did not help matters up forward for the Stars in a year where they averaged only 8.2 goals per game.

While Douttas ended the year three wins clear from relegation, they did drop all of their last five games by an average margin of almost 70 points, including a shocking 162-point drubbing at the hand of eventual premier and fierce rival, Keilor.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

Essendon Doutta Stars must take advantage of its kind early season draw in order to mix it with those expecting to play finals footy this year.

The Stars have waved goodbye to some very good top-end players, as well as coach Kyle Hardingham, but new coach Paul Barnard has wasted little time adding to his squad for the upcoming year.

Gavin Urquhart, Brady Rowles and James Harrold are all high-quality acquisitions while Alex Boyse will be a key cog in a forward line desperate for better output, so all of the ingredients seem to be in place for Douttas to rise up the ladder this year.
