THE EDFL’s junior girls and boys competitions have received a significant boost with iFLY Melbourne signing on as the League’s official junior naming rights partner.
Every junior division will be branded with ‘iFLY’ in its title for the 2021 season, with competitions set to kick off on the weekend of April 11.
Located at Essendon Fields right by the Tullamarine Freeway, iFLY Melbourne is the first indoor skydiving facility in Melbourne.
It is as close as you will get to actual skydiving without jumping out of an airplane.
“More than 7000 participants take part in EDFL junior football and to have iFLY Melbourne come on board as our junior naming rights partner is very significant for our community,” League CEO Ian Kye said.
“We know how much excitement there is out there for footy to return in April, so the timing of this new partnership coming into fruition is a wonderful result.”
Kyte swapped his usual office attire for overalls and took flight in the iFLY Melbourne tunnel last week.
“The weightlessness of flight is something that everyone should experience,” Kyte said.
“Not only is it an amazing and fun experience in the tunnel, the bonus of it is that it gives you the feeling of having just done a decent full-body workout.
“It’s an activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities and I encourage everyone in the EDFL community to give it a try.”
iFLY Melbourne General Manager Michael Katz described the new partnership as a “perfect match”.
“iFLY is excited to be the junior naming rights partner of the EDFL and we look forward to a long and strong partnership,” Katz said.
“The EDFL shares the same values as iFLY as it looks to support the local community, so it is a perfect match for us.”
Fixtures for all iFLY girls and boys junior competitions are currently being worked on and will be made public closer to the start of the 2021 season.
