OAK PARK 16.11 (107) def. WEST COBURG 13.9 (87)
MATCH CENTRE
Oak Park has outlasted West Coburg to win by 20 points in a thrilling dual at JP Fawkner Reserve.
In what was a tight, see-sawing contest, it was the Kangaroos who gained the upper edge and drew away late to collect the four points.
The Roos took a mere one-point lead into the main break, with both sides' attack on the footy and accuracy in front of goals being the highlights of the first half.
It only got better though.
The third quarter was another back and forth stoush before the Roos dug deep and found the reserves late to overcome an extremely gallant West Coburg outfit.
Errol McConnell and Kane O’Halloran were brilliant for the Roos.
In what were two game-winning performances, these two did not put a foot wrong.
McConnell was everywhere and his work rate around the ground could not be missed, meanwhile O’Halloran was pivotal down forward. His bag of four goals proving crucial in the end.
West Coburg will be disappointed with this one, but should keep their heads held firmly high after was a really positive performance.
Away from home and facing their toughest opponent to date, the Burgers were certainly up for the fight.
Ruiari Cleary was back to his best, and Mohamad Saad and Ali Khoder both slotted three goals each.
This highly anticipated matchup certainly did not disappoint, and expect these two to be battling it out come September.
Both sides get a week off now due to the King's Birthday break. When they return, Oak Park clash with Moonee Valley and West Coburg will play host to Tullamarine.
AVONDALE HEIGHTS 10.19 (79) def. ST ALBANS 9.7 (61)
MATCH CENTRE
Avondale Heights has handed St Albans its fourth straight defeat as the Heights proved their class at home again with an 18-point win.
It was the Heights who came out with the hot start. They took a 16-point lead into quarter time and this lead should have been extended at the main break had they kicked straight.
The scoring shots were in favour to Avondale, 17-7 at half-time, and yet they only held a lead of 20 points.
The inaccurate kicking would continue, but so would the Heights' pressure and ability to win the footy at the source.
They were sensational at stoppages all day and off the back of this, drew away for a comfortable three-goal win.
A three-goal win that probably should have been doubled, but nevertheless, Avondale bank the four points here.
They had eight individual goal kickers, and Sahaf Ali nailed some crucial goals on his way to three majors.
Meanwhile, St Albans has been left scrambling as it suffered its fourth loss in as many weeks.
The Saints were lucky to still be in this contest given the wayward kicking of Avondale. The door was left open, but unfortunately the Saints just couldn’t capitalise on the few opportunities they had.
Six of their nine goals came from the boots of Mason Dipetta and Lachlan Calder, as they each kicked three goals.
After the break, St Albans gets its chance to bounce back when it hosts Roxburgh Park. Meanwhile, Avondale Heights will travel out to the Eagles' nest to take on Craigieburn.

In a second-half demolition job where they kicked 10 goals to the Eagles three, the Sharks never looked like being upstaged.
What was perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the performance for coach Mo Kaakour was the contributions from his young guns.
Rising talents Noah Asciak and Khalil Kaakour were pivotal all day, and it was business as usual for star forward Josh Covelli as he kicked seven majors.
Craigieburn will be searching for answers after this one.
The Eagles were right in the thick of things up until half time. Their contest work was excellent and their pressure was a standout, but they couldn’t sustain this for a full four-quarter effort.

In another tightly contested clash, the Lions flexed their muscles in the second half to come away with the win.
Tullamarine led by a slender three points at the main break before the Lions were ultimately able to take control.
The Lions 17 had scoring shots in the second half as opposed to the Dees' seven.
The Dees should count themselves slightly lucky that the end result wasn’t any greater, considering the inaccurate goalkicking of the Lions.
Nevertheless, the win leave Taylors Lakes at an even 4-4 split for the season and in sixth position, with a fighting chance for a finals birth.
Meanwhile Tullamarine slip to 3-5.
For the Dees, Shaun McKernan and James Vistarini were the only dangerous goal threats, with McKernan kicking four goals and Vistarini snagging three.
Taylors Lakes had plenty of contributors in a really positive team performance. However, Jack Burns was the standout. Instrumental around the ground all day, he was clearly the Lion’s best.
