ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 17.9 (111) def. AIRPORT WEST 13.10 (88)
MATCH CENTRE

Essendon Doutta Stars are in the box seat to secure a breakthrough finals appearance after defeating Airport West by 23 points at Nipper Jordan Oval.

The win means the Stars are four points clear of fifth place Maribyrnong Park and a win against the Lions next Saturday could be enough to claim fifth spot, pending other results.

Despite going into the match with strong recent form, the Eagles couldn’t match it with a formidable Douttas outfit for four quarter and now sit in eighth spot, with a tough path ahead.

The home side brought the heat early, booting five first quarter goals to race out to a 23-point quarter time lead.

Both sides registered four goals in an even second quarter before Douttas kicked five goals to Airport West’s four in the third quarter to extend their lead to 30 points at the final change.

The Eagles couldn’t stage another spirited fight back in the last, with Douttas’ three final quarter goals enough to seal a satisfying victory.

Bailey Ryan stole the show at Nipper Jordan Oval, kicking seven goals and claiming the Mt Alexander best on ground award while Declan Willmore and Maison Goodman were also excellent.

Max Rider’s terrific first season in green and white continued with the youngster booting six goals, while Connor Leeflang and Joshua Buchanan also showed plenty of promise.

Douttas will be hoping to maintain fifth spot when they take on Marby at Monk Oval, while Airport West will host Strathmore.

DEER PARK 27.21 (183) def. EAST KEILOR 8.8 (56)
MATCH CENTRE

Deer Park have made amends for last week’s disappointing loss, defeating East Keilor by 127 points at John McLeod Reserve.

Saturday’s win means the Lions are now three games clear of sixth spot with just three rounds left.

The Cougars had their best game for the year, kicking a season-high eight goals and proved there are still plenty of things to be excited about for 2026 despite having a really difficult season.

The visitors showed plenty of fight early in the game, kicking three goals in the first quarter to go into the quarter time break behind by just 18 points.

Deer Park kicked away in the second quarter with six goals of their own, however the Cougars were able to hit back with another two goals.

In the end the home side’s class shone through, with the Lions booting 15 second half goals, while East Keilor kicked a further three.

Hayden Gill booted a season high five goals for Deer Park while Diesel Moloney and Zen Christofi’s superb 2025 seasons continued.

Despite going down, Jackson Griffiths was once again terrific for the Cougars while there was a lot to like about Aarav Saxena and Matthew Leimonitis.

Deer Park will travel to Raeburn Reserve to take on Pascoe Vale, while East Keilor will be back at Overland Reserve to host Aberfeldie.

ABERFELDIE 22.27 (159) def. GREENVALE 2.7 (19)
MATCH CENTRE

Aberfeldie have proven they are the real deal after defeating Greenvale by 140 points at Clifton Park.

Saturday’s win maintains Abers appear to be hitting top form at the right time of year, with a blockbuster clash with arch-rivals Strathmore in the first week of the finals looming.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s loss for the Jets marks a low point in a really difficult season with the side languishing in ninth spot having won just four games for the year.

It was one way traffic right from the beginning, with the home side booting five goals to open up a 30-point quarter time lead.

The Rillas' lead was extended to 49 points with another four goals, however their lead could’ve been more with the side kicking 11 behinds.

The Jets offered very little resistance in the second half, with Greenvale held goalless while Aberfeldie kicked another 13 second half goals to run away with an emphatic victory.

Brodie Newman’s move forward is proving to be a masterstroke with the skipper booting another bag of five goals, while Sam Medland also kicked a bag of five.

Zain Yamak had his best game for the year, collecting 35 disposals and seven marks while Jonathan Keratianos was good once again.

It doesn’t get any easier for Greenvale with the Jets set to square off with Keilor at Section Road, while Aberfeldie will take on East Keilor at Overland Reserve.

STRATHMORE 17.18 (120) def. MARIBYRNONG PARK 8.11 (59)
MATCH CENTRE

Maribyrnong Park’s finals hopes are hanging by a thread, with the Lions going down to Strathmore by 61 points at Lebanon Reserve.

The loss means Marby are now four points and percentage behind fifth placed Douttas despite being in the top five for most of the year.

The Mores remain in third spot however they are still one game behind rivals Aberfeldie with their Round 18 clash set to decide who finishes higher on the ladder.

With their season on the line, Marby came out firing kicking three first quarter goals to go into the first change with their noses in front.

The Lions got the first four of the second quarter to extend their lead to 26 points, however the home side rallied late to kick four of the next five.

The Mores clicked into gear in the second half with five third quarter goals handing them a 29-point three quarter time lead while Marby could only manage just two points.

Strathmore wasn’t finished there, with another five final quarter goals sealing a comfortable 10-goal victory.

Liam Cavanagh was at his brilliant best once again with the defender collecting 32 touches, while Adam Iacobucci and Brock Egglestone also stood up.

For the Lions, Brodie Romensky was everywhere finishing with 33 disposals and 13 marks, while Josh Cole and Alex Barba were very good on a difficult day for the visitors.

Marby will have a chance to save their season when they host Essendon Doutta Stars at Monk Oval, while Strathmore will meet with Airport West at Hansen Reserve.

KEILOR 10.12 (72) def. by PASCOE VALE 11.12 (78)
MATCH CENTRE

Pascoe Vale has broken Keilor’s 16-game winning streak after defeating the Blues by six points at Joe Brown Oval in a huge boil over.

Saturday’s match is the Blues' first loss at Joe Brown Oval in 1,079 days and makes four of Keilor's last five losses coming at the hands of Pascoe Vale.

The loss doesn’t loosen the reigning premier's grip on top spot with the Blues still two games clear, while the Panthers have jumped up to seventh and are still a sniff at playing finals.

Coach Mick McGuane felt like his side was outplayed for most of the day and was disappointed with the team’s intensity, ability to win territory early, and post-clearance contested ball wins.

Pascoe Vale were up for the fight early, holding the Blues to just three goals in the first quarter and trailed by just seven points at quarter time.

The Panthers were able to take down Keilor’s formidable backline in the second quarter, kicking four goals to open up a 15-point half time lead.

With the side in foreign territory heading into the third quarter, Keilor clawed their way back with three goals in the third quarter to cut the margin to one point at three quarter time.

Keilor hit the front when Mason Thomas goaled before extending their lead to 11 points when Chris Kosmas found the big sticks.

The Panthers wouldn’t die wondering with another two goals handing them a three point lead just after time on.

Keilor got back in front with a goal to Josh Honey, however goals to Rhys Ritchie and Ben Allan in the final minute earned the Panthers the famous win.

Ritchie and Sunny Brazier were a handful for the Keilor backline with both men kicking three goals, while Matt Stillman led from the front all day.

Despite going down, Riley Ham was excellent in just his fourth game for the year, while Kyle O’Connor and Mason Thomas fought hard all day.

Keilor will be hoping to bounce back when they take on Greenvale at Section Road, while Pascoe Vale will meet with Deer Park at Raeburn Reserve.

MARIBYRNONG PARK 4.1 (25) def. by ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS 15.13 (103)
MATCH CENTRE

Essendon Doutta Stars flexed their dominance in a commanding victory over Maribyrnong Park at Monk Oval to officially cement their finals spot.

They hit the ground running early, kicking 3.6 to open up the first term and left Marby with just a goal to their name.

The Stars midfield controlled the tempo all afternoon, firing at the scoreboard with another five goals by halftime.

Ada Pizzinga led the charge for the Stars, providing scoreboard pressure with her four-goal haul.

Emma Dawson also was electric with her three goals seeing her named as one of her side's best players on the weekend.

Maribyrnong Park battled bravely, but couldn't match their opponents.

Elise Korteman provided some highlights for the Lions kicking two goals.

Gabrielle Mahoney also impressed with two goals of her own.

The Stars will hope to end their regular season on a high with a highly-anticipated clash against Hillside at Shark Park, while Maribyrnong Park will meet Oak Park over at JP Fawkner Reserve.

HILLSIDE 7.5 (47) def. MOONEE VALLEY 2.2 (14)
MATCH CENTRE

Hillside served up a scintillating performance at home to take down Moonee Valley in a 33-point victory.

They built scoreboard pressure early with five goals in the first half.

For Moonee Valley, they started to show signs of a comeback, responding with two goals. But goal inaccuracies and their inability to hold back a ruthless opponent saw them struggling to overcome the Sharks.

A gritty defensive effort helped the premiership contender to run away with the win.

Caitlin Sargent was explosive scoring six goals on the afternoon and helping the Sharks return back to the winner's circle this week.

Ra Bloomfield and Megan Mifsud were the goal scorers for Moonee Valley, kicking one each.

Hillside will face Essendon Doutta Stars at home to close out their regular season this week.

Moonee Valley will be on the hunt for a win when they take on Aberfeldie at Clifton Park.

KEILOR 2.1 (13) def. by OAK PARK 13.7 (85)
MATCH CENTRE

Oak Park continued their winning ways, adding a blistering victory over Keilor to their season campaign.

A 6.4 opening quarter performance set the tone for what would be a memorable win for the side, who overtook Hillside to sit second on the ladder.

They continued to create headaches for their opposition, kicking another two goals heading into the second half.

After being left scoreless, Keilor responded with two goals.

But Oak Park once again dominated across the ground, leaving Keilor to struggle to find answers in attack.

Stephanie Normington-Dickens was at her best once again, bagging four goals in her side's win.

Charlotte Beattie and Maggie O'Connell were also crucial in the win kicking three goals each.

Helen Grewcock and Lara Pravica had a goal each for Keilor.

Oak Park will be looking to round out their regular season this week as they host a clash against Maribyrnong Park.

Keilor will face off against Greenvale in a matchup at Joe Brown Oval.

GREENVALE 0.0 (0) def. by ABERFELDIE 3.2 (20)
MATCH CENTRE

Aberfeldie walked away with the points after Greenvale forfeited the match early.

They'll prepare to face off against Moonee Valley at Clifton Park this week, while Greenvale will battle it out against Keilor over at Joe Brown Oval.

ROXBURGH PARK 13.10 (88) def. by AVONDALE HEIGHTS 15.9 (99)
MATCH CENTRE

Avondale Heights has escaped from Lakeside Reserve with a mere 11-point win over a gallant Roxburgh Park.

In a must-win game for the Heights, they put pay to a disappointing first three quarters of football with a brilliant come-from-behind performance in the last term.

The Heights flew out of the blocks and piled on five goals to one in the first quarter, before the home side came right back into it with a six-goal-to-three second quarter.

Avondale took a nine-point lead into the main break, and the game looked evenly poised between both sides.

Roxburgh Park took control of the contest in the third term, and took their chances in front of the sticks to run away with a slim 10-point lead at the final break in play.

Yet, when game was on the line and the whips started cracking, the Heights ultimately proved their class in a gritty last-quarter comeback.

Despite collecting the four points, it wasn’t as convincing a win as many may have anticipated.

Nonetheless, it’s another win for the Heights as they take their season record to 11 wins and five losses and officially secure a spot in the finals.

Jackson Robb was back to his best with another dominant midfield display, while he also kicked two goals for the afternoon.

Sahaf Ali was also instrumental with a bag of five goals for the Heights.

On the other side of the ledger, while the disappointment is evident, it was a performance of significant improvement for Roxburgh Park.

Against one of the top sides of the competition, they fell agonisingly short in a game with an abundance of positives to take away.

Eyad Hegazy had a day out for the home side, with a sack of six goals.

Avondale Heights travel to Kings Park Reserve next week for their clash with St Albans, while Roxburgh Park will get a chance to make amends when they face Moonee Valley.

TULLAMARINE 6.3 (39) def. by CRAIGIEBURN 11.15 (81)
MATCH CENTRE

Craigieburn has kept their season alive with a pivotal 42-point road win over Tullamarine.

With some key results on the weekend falling their way, they now sit only one game outside of the top five as they look to sneak into the finals.

They have now leap-frogged Taylors Lakes on the ladder, and trail St Albans by just the one game as this remarkable end-of-season run continues.

The two sides could hardly be split in the first half, with Craigieburn taking a slender one-point lead into the first break and then holding on to enter half-time with a six-point lead.

A second half of dominance from the Eagles is where the damage was done.

Craigieburn kicked six goals to one in the second half to run away with an important seven-goal win.

The win keeps their finals aspirations alive, but with games against top five sides in Hillside and Avondale Heights to come, they’ll need to prove how good they really are if they want to feature in September.

Blake Polley and Luke Reichelt led the way for the Eagles and were two of their best.

Tullamarine will be disappointed with this one.

It’s again another case of solid football in patches.

Patches and spurts of excellence has unfortunately failed to get the job done for the Dees on many occasions this season, and after another solid first half on Saturday, they couldn’t match it when the Eagles lifted to another level.

Steven Vocale and Cooper Szczygielski were solid with two goals each to their name.

Craigieburn will be made to earn their spot in September with a difficult final two weeks, starting with Hillside this week. Meanwhile for Tullamarine, it gets no easier for them when they travel to Lionheart Reserve for their bout with Taylors Lakes.

MOONEE VALLEY 10.11 (71) def. by HILLSIDE 24.9 (153)
MATCH CENTRE

Hillside has romped their way to an emphatic 82-point win over Moonee valley.

The Sharks came circling out with a dominant first half of footy.

They recorded 14 first-half goals in a demolition job which saw them nearly crack the ton at the main break in play.

The second half was no different, and after taking a 52-point lead into half-time, the Sharks swam away again to record an impressive 82-point win on the road.

The win sees them remain in third position on the ladder, and with a double-chance firmly in their sights for September.

Vice-captain Josh Covelli was up to his usual antics with another sack of seven goals, while small forward Gabriel Cristiano was also good with three goals to his name.

Covelli takes his season tally to 81 goals, with 19 required to crack the magical ton again.

On the other side, it was another gloomy day for Moonee Valley as they fall to 11 losses and just the five wins for the year.

They were simply outclassed on Saturday and will look to find their best in a winnable game next week.

On a difficult day, Luke Denny and Costa Detsikas were solid with three goals each.

Hillside will travel to DS Aitken Reserve next week for what’s an intriguing clash against Craigieburn, while Moonee Valley will host Roxburgh Park in what’s an exciting matchup for both sides.

OAK PARK 17.13 (115) def. ST ALBANS 10.8 (68)
MATCH CENTRE

Oak Park has cruised to another victory with a 47-point home win over St Albans.

It’s another dominant win against a top-five side as the Kangaroos stranglehold over the competition continues.

After a tightly contested, back and forth first half where St Albans actually led at the main break by five points, the hosts flexed their muscles and powered away from a helpless Saints outfit.

The Kangaroos piled on 11 goals to three in the second half and couldn’t be matched as they skipped away to their fourteenth win of the season.

As the wins keep stacking up, the questions surrounding who is going to beat this side continues to arise.

West Coburg will get their chance to dethrone the ladder leaders next week, and while it looms as one of the Kangaroos more tougher tests in recent weeks, they look hard to hold out on paper.

Paul Pascu was Oak Park’s best, with the young inside brute cementing his dominance over the contest all day.

For St Albans, they remain in fifth position on the ladder despite the loss.

They sit a singular game clear of Craigieburn in sixth, but will need to pull out all the stops for these last two games if they are to make the final five.

In what was a disappointing second-half performance, Brandon Coletta did the damage all day, finding plenty of the football and hitting the scoreboard with three majors.

Oak Park will travel to Shore Reserve next week for their mouth-watering top-of-the-table bout with West Coburg, while it gets no easier for the Saints when they host fellow top-five side Avondale Heights.

TAYLORS LAKES 15.10 (100) def. by WEST COBURG 19.9 (123)
MATCH CENTRE

West Coburg has proven too classy for Taylors Lakes with a 23-point road win at Lionheart Reserve.

The Burgers came ready to play and poured in a seven-goal-to-two first quarter to lead the Lions by 30 points at the first break in play.

Taylors Lakes responded though and hit back with six goals to four in the second term to cut the deficit back to 15 points at half time.

With the game evenly balanced, the third quarter is where the Burgers flexed their muscles.

They proved their class by extending their lead back out to a hard-fought 27 points at the final break, with the Lions still hanging around.

In the end, the Burgers were able to hold on in the last quarter and secure a solid four-goal win.

They take their record to 12 wins and just the four losses, and are poised to finish the season off with a double-chance yet again.

Omar Saad had a day out with a haul of seven goals, and Dinny Cleary was among their best on return.

On the other side of the ledger, it’s a significant loss for the Lions as they now plummet down to seventh position on the ladder.

They are certainly a finals-calibre outfit, however with two difficult games to come against Tullamarine and Hillside, they must with both to be a chance of featuring in September.

Damien Petrone was back to his best with a superb six-goal performance, and Christian Petersen was solid all day.

West Coburg will host Oak Park next week in a blockbuster top-of-the-table clash at Shore Reserve, while Taylors Lakes will need to bounce back against Tullamarine.

TULLAMARINE 0.0 (0) def. by STRATHMORE 14.9 (93)
MATCH CENTRE

Strathmore was ruthless in their dominant 93-point win over Tullamarine last Saturday.

They set the pressure early on with seven unanswered goals and left Tullamarine scoreless.

Strathmore continued on across all four quarters, with Tullamarine unable to register a single point.

Emma Artigas stood tall for her side, booting an impressive six goals on the afternoon.

Elisha Wain also provided scoreboard pressure with two goals to her name.

With the home and away season now complete, Strathmore will enter the finals with serious momentum, and a target on their back.

While for Tullamarine, it was a tough end to the season. But they'll now shift their focus to re-grouping over the off-season after a challenging campaign.

BURNSIDE HEIGHTS 9.3 (57) def. COBURG DISTRICTS 0.1 (1)
MATCH CENTRE

Burnside Heights cruised to a comfortable 57-point win over Coburg Districts.

The Bears were clinical, keeping their opponents to just a single behind, in what was a strong defensive effort.

Isabelle Young was unstoppable in the win, her three goals helping bolster the Bears to the win.

Holly McGregor also contributed nicely, slotting two goals on the afternoon.

The Bears had a season of steady growth and now will wait to see what the finals fixture has in store for them.

However, it's been a season of growing pains for Coburg Districts. Though the side will take plenty of lessons from 2025 into their next season.

WESTMEADOWS 0.3 (3) def. by KEILOR PARK 3.12 (30)
MATCH CENTRE

Keilor Park rounded out the weekend's games, securing a win in a low-scoring tussle.

Inaccuracies at goal kept the margin respectable, but Keilor Park's ability to lock the ball in their half ensured Westmeadows weren't able to get on top of them.

Kyiesha Taylor was vital in her side's 30-point win.

Taylor's two goals helped her side secure the win in the final game of the home and away season.

Isabella Arvanitis also contributed, kicking a goal for Keilor Park.

The Devils finish the regular season on a high and will be watching closely as finals plans unfold.

While the scoreboard didn't fall their way this week, Westmeadows showed plenty of grit and will look to enter finals with some confidence.

EAST SUNBURY 8.11 (59) def. by BURNSIDE HEIGHTS 11.7 (73)
MATCH CENTRE

Burnside Heights has snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 14-point win over East Sunbury.

The Bears' last win also came against the Thunder and moves them six points clear of East Sunbury, which sits at the bottom of the ladder.

It was an even contest for much of the afternoon with the Thunder leading by 14 points into time on in the first quarter, before the Bears enjoyed a game-high 21-point lead early in the last.

Jordan Hughes continues to lead from the front with two goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Greg Constantinou led the scoring with four majors.

Jacob Elia kicked three goals to take his season tally to 34, while Josh Neralic was also a solid contributor.

Brendan Fevola kicked two goals for East Sunbury with six teammates hitting the scoreboard.

Steele Nason, Aaron Flavel, and James Strauss among those in strong games for each of them.

The Thunder will be on the road to face Keilor Park this weekend, while Burnside Heights will host Westmeadows.

GLENROY 11.15 (81) def. HADFIELD 11.8 (74)
MATCH CENTRE

Glenroy has withstood a fast-finishing Hadfield to win by seven points at Sewell Reserve and claim the minor premiership.

The Roys got out to a 28-point lead at the final break with six goals in the third quarter separating the sides after a tight first half.

Hadfield registered seven of the eight scores in the final quarter, but just three majors saw them behind at the final siren.

Glenroy moves two games clear in first with a sizeable percentage difference, while Hadfield's season has come to a close.

Aaron Kite continues to be a forward force with four goals, while Jake Young and skipper Tanner Nilsson kicked two goals each.

Nilsson was again among the best, alongside Julian Hemala and Joseph Vaccaro.

It was an even spread for Hadfield with Michael Graham, Nathan Johnson, and Jack Wallace kicking two goals each.

Regular contributors Josh Trembearth, Jake Polizzi, Sam Godden, and Rhys Gleisner the four best for the Hawks.

Glenroy will next head down to Eric Boardman Reserve to play the Sunbury Kangaroos, while Hadfield will host Rupertswood.

WESTMEADOWS 5.14 (44) def. by KEILOR PARK 8.10 (58)
MATCH CENTRE

Keilor Park has ended Westmeadows' 10-game winning streak with a 14-point win at Willowbrook Reserve.

The Devils remain in the hunt for a top-three finish, while Westy's minor premiership dreams are over.

It was a low-scoring affair with the Tigers' inaccuracy costing them early, giving up a 21-point half time lead with one less scoring shot.

While both teams left plenty of goals out there in the second half, the Devils maintained the gap in the game and took home the four points.

Jarod Pontin and Aaron Scerri kicked two goals each for Keilor Park, with singles to Mark Jamar, Luke Kilty, and Pearce Wilkinson.

Michael Gatt and Joshua Bawden were named the Devils' best as they recover from consecutive losses with consecutive wins, and this one a big confidence booster for their finals campaign.

The Tigers will be disappointed with the loss and will look to bounce back at Burnside Heights, while Keilor Park will host East Sunbury.

RUPERTSWOOD 19.11 (125) def. NORTHERN SAINTS 7.6 (48)
MATCH CENTRE

Rupertswood has enjoyed a huge 78-point win over Northern Saints to remain in third spot.

The final margin isn't reflective of how much closer this contest was throughout the first three quarters.

The Saints kicked 4.0 to lead by eight points at the first change, before Rupo's four goals in the second quarter saw them take a four-point lead into the main break.

Three unanswered from the Sharks stretched the margin out to 22 points at the final change, but a whopping 10 goals to one in the final term resulted in the blowout.

Owen Sloan and Bailey Verrall kicked three majors with Angus Price and Jackson Pranauskas among the best with two goals each.

Rupo will look to keep the momentum rolling against Hadfield, while Northern Saints will play Coburg Districts.

COBURG DISTRICTS 14.12 (96) def. SUNBURY KANGAROOS 9.10 (64)
MATCH CENTRE

Coburg Districts has booked its return to finals with a 32-point win over Sunbury Kangaroos at Cole Reserve.

The Lions needed Hadfield to lose after securing the win and that's what they got, heading back to finals action for the first time since 2022.

It was an arm wrestle all day with the Kangaroos also having the opportunity to keep their season alive with a win.

Single digits separated the sides at the first two breaks before Districts' 5.1 in the third quarter to the Kangaroos' 1.7 saw them open a 12-point advantage heading into the last.

Districts would continue to roll on kicking five goals to two in the last to run out comfortable victors.

Patrick Logan kicked a season-high four goals and was named the Lions' best, while Curtis Rawlings kicked three goals for the second week in a row.

Mitch Streiff did his best to lift the Roos with three goals, likewise Tie Cuffe and Shawn Bowden, but it wasn't enough.

Coburg Districts will look to build into its finals campaign this week against Northern Saints, while Sunbury Kangaroos will play Glenroy.

SUNBURY LIONS 0.1 (1) def. by GISBORNE 15.8 (98)
MATCH CENTRE

Gisborne has completed the 2025 regular season with a perfect record of 14 straight wins following a commanding victory over Sunbury Lions at Clarke Oval.

Flexing their muscles, the Dogs led the way with seven goal scorers, four of whom had multiple, and held the Lions to just one behind.

Ayesha Nicholson and Emma Williams were some of the Bulldogs named in their best-on list, with Williams most notably leading her side with five majors.

Alicia Chadwick too suited up in fine fashion, kicking three for the finals-bound Gisborne.

For Sunbury, its 2025 season has come to a close with the side finishing fifth on the ladder.

Its 5-9 record doesn’t reflect the efforts the team put in each week, especially as the Lions were still a finals chance heading into this one.

Gisborne will look towards a qualifying final against Taylors Lakes, with the winner securing a spot in the decider.

SUNBURY KANGAROOS 5.1 (31) def. by ROXBURGH PARK 5.5 (35)
MATCH CENTRE

In a thrilling Airport Toyota Division Two clash, Roxburgh Park has clinched a four-point victory over the Sunbury Kangaroos at Eric Boardman Reserve.

In an entrée to what’s to come next week, both sides used this match as an opportunity to test each other before they meet in the elimination final.

After conceding the first goal in the early stages of the first term, Roxy responded to lead at every change and survived a fourth quarter scare when the Kangas booted a crucial goal and were hungry for more.

Roxy’s Kiara Croxford was named the Mt Alexander Hotel Player of the Match and was awarded a $50 voucher following an impressive performance.

Rhiannon Hanley and Tylah Bell were amongst the best-on list for the Kangas, while Natasha Page-Lutze shined with two goals.

So, if this week is something to go by, next week’s do-or-die elimination final promises to be a thriller.

EAST SUNBURY 5.2 (32) def. by TAYLORS LAKES 8.10 (58)
MATCH CENTRE

East Sunbury and Taylors Lakes treated onlookers at John McMahon Recreation Reserve to a goal-kicking shootout, with the Lions too good and taking the win by 26 points.

While the curtain may have closed on the Thunder’s season, players, coaches, and volunteers in the East Sunbury camp all have the right to be celebrating after the team booted its highest score to date.

Tess Carroll, Danielle Fraser, Shelby Grinter, Paris Latimer, and captain Rhianna Kirk were the five who struck gold in a historic match for the club.

Taylors Lakes' Stefania Valerio booted five, taking her regular season tally to 33, leading the Lions season record and just two shy from the division leader.

Valerio joined Jaime Wulf and Emma Villani as some of the Lions’ best in Saturday's match having all produced impressive displays.

Attention turns to next week’s qualifying final date with Gisborne for the Lions, with the winner earning a spot in the grand final.

East Sunbury will be happy to have left the field on a high note, and we cannot wait to see them back in action in 2026.
