The EDFL is in mourning after the passing of Life Member and renowned umpiring personality, Jim Ainsworth.
Jim was a popular member of the EDFL community following an umpiring career than spanned across 62 years, 2140 games and four different football leagues.
In 2007, Jim was inducted as an EDFL life member for his contribution to the EDFL and its Umpires Association.
He is also a life member of the EDFL Umpires Association, Northern Football League, Metropolitan Football League and Broadmeadows Football Club.
"Jim was an umpiring legend and a friend to everyone," the EDFL Umpiring Association said in a statement.
The EDFL would like to send its condolences to Jim's family, friends and anyone who was touched by Jim's life.
