KEILOR AND STRATHMORE DOMINANT IN STATEMENT VICTORIES

Keilor are one step closer to replicating their perfect 2019 season after yet another dominant performance in the Grand Final qualifier downing Pascoe Vale by 88 points at Coburg City Oval.

The Blues got out of the gates quick with typically slick ball movement and were able to halt Pascoe Vale’s transition to keep them to just two goals at half time.

Keilor would pile on the goals as they’ve done to sides all season, kicking four in the first, five in the second, four in the third, and seven in the fourth, registering 34 scoring shots to just 16 from Pascoe Vale.

Damien Cavka and Matthew Clark kicked four goals each with multiples to Christos Kosmas, Kyle O’Connor, Nathan Ellis, and Nick O’Kearney.

They’ll progress to Windy Hill and await the winner of Pascoe Vale and Strathmore.

Strathmore followed a similar trend to Keilor and capitalised on undisciplined acts from East Keilor to kick six first-quarter goals.

Their explosiveness from inside to outside was a key feature as they were much cleaner around the ground than the Cougars were, especially delivering inside 50.

They managed 22 goals in a complete four-quarter performance to build nicely into a prelim.

2022 Reynolds Medalist Will Jury returned from VFL duties in a best-on-ground performance kicking three goals and being his usual industrious self in the engine room.

Tom Condon (five goals), Kyle Weightman (four goals), Athan Tsialtas (three goals), and Daniel Mammoliti (three goals) comprised a prolific hybrid forward line for Strathmore in which East Keilor had no answer.

BURGERS THROUGH TO THE BIG DANCE

Despite a solid challenge from Rupertswood, West Coburg will take their place in the Rookie Me Division One Grand Final after a 49-point victory on Saturday afternoon.

It was an arm wrestle in the first half with Rupo keeping the margin within a kick at the first break, and just 10 points at half time.

From there, West Coburg showed why they went through the regular season undefeated kicking 10 goals to four in the second half, holding Rupo goalless in the third term.

Although Rupo fought hard, the Burgers rampaged home to give themselves another opportunity against Deer Park and eye off their return to the top flight.

Noah Weihrauch was superb for West Coburg just over a week after celebrating his 20th birthday and was supported by the ever-reliable Dinny Cleary who booted three majors.

Ibby Taha continues to impress with another six goals to bring his season tally to 67.

Jackson Cardillo produced another stellar performance for Rupertswood who had a great season in their first EDFL finals series.
