Inflicting a second loss for the season, Keilor have shored up to spot on the ladder with a 50-point victory against the overachieving Cougars.

As they continue to shock the competition, East Keilor have dropped back on their early season form after losses to both Aberfeldie and now Keilor.

The win was set up after a dominant second half performance, seeing Keilor pile on 11 goals to only four.

Standout performances from both Kyle O’Connor and Todd Stevenson helped see Keilor reaffirm their hold on the top spot heading into a Round 9 clash against Pascoe Vale.

SHARKS CATCH THE VALLEY NAPPING

Sportscast Replay - CLICK HERE

Rupertswood have produced a spirited final term to run over the top of a flat-footed Moonee Valley side to keep in touch with the top four race.

A 23-point three-quarter time lead provide futile for the Valley, who could only manage one major in the last, as the sharks piled on 6.6 to leap to a 13-point victory.

It was a tale of two quarters in the second half, as Moonee Valley dominated the running after the half, to have the script flipped on themselves as the final siren sounded.

Mitchell Johnson provided a target up forward with five goals and was aided by a best-on-ground performance from Cameron Mcrorie hitting the scoreboard for two majors himself.

A massive, missed opportunity for Moonee Valley to steal the points off a team looking to break into the top four this season, as they remain languishing with a 1-7 record in ninth.

Round 9 sees the Valley come up against seventh placed Craigieburn, a massive game for the pair with the winner building a nice gap over the bottom placed Sunbury Kangaroos.

As one of four teams sitting on 20 premiership points going into Round 9, Ruperstwood’s clash with West Coburg will go a long way to shaping the eventual make-up of the top 4 going forward.

HADFIELD HOLD ON AGAINST A FAST-FINISHING LAKES

Martin Reserve provided the backdrop for a nail-biting finish as Hadfield held on by four points against a Taylors Lakes side who have now gone winless in their past month of footy.

Already trailing Hadfield in fourth spot on the ladder coming into the game, the loss sees the Lakes drop down to sixth on the ladder and fall 10 premiership points out of the top four race.

A four-goal performance on the day from Luke Nappi wasn’t enough to guide the Lakes over the line, as even contributions from Connor Ahern and Jason Choueiri saw the home side prevail.

The win sees Hadfield continue to build a strong body of work as the season continues, clinching their fourth win on the trot and in doing so rising to third on the ladder.

Their next big test comes against the second placed Keilor Park at home this week.

Taylors Lakes have the chance to bounce back and end their losing run with a trip to Cole Reserve taking on the improving Coburg Districts.

KEILOR CONTINUE ITS WINNING WAYS

Reaffirming its place at the top of the Airport Toyota Women's Premier Division ladder, Keilor ran away 11-point victory against third placed Oak Park at Joe Brown oval.

While the margin may flatter Oak Park, the win never seemed in doubt, as Keilor controlled the script for much of the match.

A half-time margin of 27 points was cut down to 11 as the final siren rang, seeing Keilor record their sixth victory of the season.

The win continues the two-horse race for top spot, as Westmeadows remained in touch in second only behind on Keilor’s formidable percentage after the Tigers saw off Moonee Valley under lights at Willowbrook Reserve.

Oak Park remain in third as the gap to fourth and the chasing pack widens deeper into the season.

LADDER LEADERS SUFFER THEIR FIRST LOSS

In a surprise result, Greenvale have dropped their first points of the season, knocked off by Essendon Doutta Stars by seven points.

Standout performers for the Stars included Harmony Mitsos and Jasmine Arezzolo, as well as a three-goal game from Olivia Anderson.

For Greenvale, Alisa Magri took her season tally to 27 goals scored after another three over the weekend.

Another top four tussle faces the Stars, as they come up against Gisborne in Round 8, after knocking off the ladder leaders they should be full of energy and confidence to tackle whatever is thrown at them.

Greenvale return home and face Pascoe Vale, with a win looking to put them back on the right track for the remainder of the year.
