BLUES CONTINUE GOOD FRIDAY DOMINANCE

Keilor have jumped back up to the top of the Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division ladder after a commanding victory over Strathmore at Lebanon Reserve on Good Friday.

Mick McGuane’s men led by as much as 41 points at three quarter time, and gave the Mores little to no breathing room throughout the match.

The home side, however, wouldn't bow down, piling on four consecutive goals early in the final quarter bringing the margin back to as little as 14 points in the process, and sending the Strathmore crowd into hysterics.

In true Keilor fashion however, the visitors were soon able to stem the flow, and it was no other than Dean Galea (3 goals) who steadied the ship with an important major to take the lead back out to 20 points. A final goal to Campbell Barton was enough to seal the 13.14.92-9.11.65 victory.

Kyle O’Connor seemed to bring his own football with him as he dominated all over the park, as well as managing to influence the scoreboard with 3 goals of his own.

For Matt Horne’s side, it was Adam Iacobucci who looked to command the midfield as Strathmore spurred forward. Will Jury worked into the game well, while Xavier Allison was busy all over the ground, and eventually added a brilliant goal from 50 in the final term.

Strathmore will be looking to bounce back on Anzac Day when they travel to Sewell Reserve to face Glenroy, whilst Keilor will return home to Joe Brown Oval where they will lock horns with an impressive and improved Maribyrnong Park outfit.

SHARKS ALIVE AS HILLSIDE DOMINATE FLAT ROOS

Hillside has bounced back from a tough first round outing with a monster win at Shark Park, taking care of the Sunbury Kangaroos by 55 points.

The Sharks started well and didn’t look back, posting 5 goals in the first quarter, whilst heading into the main change 61 points ahead. Sunbury’s offence lacked precision and accuracy, with the visitors managing a scoreline of 1.5.11 at the half.

Hillside were able to tally an abundance of goalscorers, with Lucas Failli leading the way with four goals. Theo Peteinarias and Josh Covelli were both able to influence the stat sheet, kicking three each.

For the visitors, it was Cooper McPharlane (four goals) who was able to contribute strongly up front to make the scoreline more respectable. Ross Tungatalum added three, but it wasn’t enough as Hillside ran out inaccurate winners, 17.20.122-9.13.67.

Hillside will return to their home base next week as they host an in-form Tullamarine side, whilst Sunbury will be looking to grab their first win of the season as they face Rupertswood in the Sunbury derby.

DISTRICTS FLATTENED AS DEVILS SEEK REDEMPTION

Keilor Park has sent a warning message to the rest of Strathmore Community Bank Division Two after thumping Coburg Districts by 49 points at Cole Reserve.

The Devils showed no mercy from the get go, piling on the early pressure as well as six goals to one in the first term. They inflicted more pain in the second, adding seven goals to three to take a monstrous 59 point lead into the main break.

Keilor park would lead by 64 points at the final break, before the Districts managed some respectability adding six fine quarter goals of their own.

Robbie Castello led from the front for the visitors booting five goals, whilst Dimitrios Guicas followed with four. Dayne Tannenberg stood up strong for Districts adding three goals, but the damage had already been done as Keilor Park took out the 19.16.130-11.15.81 victory.

BLUES INFLICT MORE PAIN ON STRUGGLING SHARKS

Keilor has bounced back after a tough round two loss, defeating Hillside by 43 points at Shark Park.

It has been a tough start to the season for the Sharks, who have been dominated in all three encounters so far.

Madeline Barton and Olivia Manfre starred for the visitors kicking three goals each, whilst for Hillside it was inaccurate kicking that made things difficult as Keilor ran out 9.6.60-1.11.17 victors in windy conditions.

The task doesn’t get easier for the Sharks who, although return to their home deck, face an in-form and undefeated Oak Park side. The reigning premiers will look for another big percentage boosting win when they head to Clifton Park to face Aberfeldie.
