Airport Toyota Women’s Weekend Outlook - Thursday May 25, 2023

Presented by Airport Toyota

Keilor are in danger of losing possibly four on the trot when they take on second-placed Oak Park.

Keilor currently sit in the top four despite their three losses, but have Marby, Hillside, and Westmeadows on their tail with the same points.

For Oak Park, Alex Quigley and Sam German are firing on all cylinders with a combined 28 goals for the season.

Strathmore are the lone team with just one win in the competition and face Moonee Valley who currently sit third on the ladder.

While Strathmore are ranked last for scoring, Moonee Valley are fifth for defense which leaves the door slightly ajar for the Mores.

That said, the Fog have been playing some quality footy in the last month, highlighted by a big win over Keilor.

Neighbours on the ladder, Hillside and Maribyrnong Park have an opportunity to create a bit of separation on each other in this twilight fixture at Shark Park.

Hillside have found some form in recent weeks and were a kick away from winning three in a row, while Marby have competed against Oak Park and knocked Keilor off by seven goals.

Can Marby’s consistent performance get them back on the winner’s list or will momentum run high for the Sharks.

Ladder leaders Aberfeldie will take on Westmeadows following their narrow victory over Keilor last week which kept them undefeated.

Westmeadows have had a propensity to let some big scores through so they’ll need to bring their best on Saturday.

Essendon Doutta Stars will again meet with flag favourites Greenvale following their Round 1 clash which resulted in a comfortable victory for the Jets.

Douttas have since played some incredible football and won their last five to put their hand up as the next best in the pack at this stage.

For Greenvale, their match last week was the closest result they’ve had – a 36-point victory over the Bears.

Burnside Heights will have a chance to get back on the winner’s list following two straight losses when they play Gisborne.

Gisborne have a slightly better record than the Bears and will be looking to unleash Charlotte Noonan on what’s been a leaky defence in the last couple of weeks.

Tullamarine inevitably face their best chance for their first win when they play the Sunbury Lions.

They’ve been beaten quite comfortably against the remaining teams, while Sunbury Lions have suffered the same fate with their two wins coming from Sunbury Kangaroos and Pascoe Vale.

Who can make the first move in this one?

Sitting at opposite ends of the ladder, Aberfeldie 2 are pushing for win number four against Westmeadows 2.

Following their reasonably comfortable win against Coburg Districts, they’ll be full of confidence.

Coburg Districts will have a chance to get their season back on track against Sunbury Kangaroos, while Moonee Valley 2 could further plaster their position around the top of the ladder.

Maribyrnong Park 2 meanwhile will face stiff opposition in Airport West.
