Airport Toyota Women’s Weekend Outlook - Thursday July 27, 2023

Presented by Airport Toyota

Fourth spot is still up for grabs in Airport Toyota Women’s Premier Division with Maribyrnong Park looking to push the reigning premiers in Keilor out.

Keilor will play Aberfeldie which was decided by just one point the last time they met.

Aberfeldie have locked in the minor premiership while a win for Keilor would ensure they play finals.

Oak Park will host Maribyrnong Park with the former locking in second spot and the double chance, while Marby will need to cause an upset and hope the seven per cent differential between them and Keilor is wiped to play finals.

The Lions came within 12 points of the Kangaroos when they played in Round 6.

Both Westmeadows and Strathmore have been winless for some time, and they’ll have a chance to finish the season on a high in this contest.

Westmeadows took the four points the last time they played with a nine-point victory.

Hillside and Moonee Valley will round out the home and away season in a twilight fixture at Shark Park.

The Fog will play finals after locking in third spot last week, while Hillside are searching for their fifth win.

The last time they met, Moonee Valley won by five points with an accurate day in front of goals.

While nothing is to be gained for either side in terms of ladder position, the Sharks will be wanting to send off outgoing coach Rob Davis on a good note.

The minor premiership is up for grabs when Greenvale plays Burnside Heights.

The Jets lost two on the trot after being undefeated until Round 10, the first coming against the Bears.

It was a seven-point game in that one with Kayla Ravanello kicking three majors, and Krissy Trang and Holly McGregor named their best.

The battle in each forward line will impact the final result, but it could also impact the leading goal kicker tally with the leader Alisa Magri just two goals clear of Ravanello in second place.

No more ladder spots are up for grabs with Sunbury Lions playing Essendon Doutta Stars and Gisborne playing Tullamarine.

Both Douttas and Gisborne have enjoyed comfortable victories against their upcoming opponents in previous matchups.

The only ladder positions that could change within the top four are Coburg Districts and Moonee Valley 2.

Moonee Valley 2 will need to beat Pascoe Vale and Coburg Districts will need to lose to Sunbury Kangaroos in order for there to be a change between third and fourth.

The Kangaroos lost to Coburg Districts by 23 points the last time they played with the Lions boasting a spread of goal kickers.

The Fog meanwhile, beat Pascoe Vale by 73 points in their last meeting putting up 30 scoring shots to two.

In other games, Maribyrnong Park 2 will face the unbeaten Airport West, and Westmeadows 2 will play Aberfeldie 2.
