Airport Toyota Women’s Weekend Outlook - Round 7

By Tara Murray

The Essendon District Football League women’s competition will return with a bang this weekend, with not one but two top of the table clashes.

After three weeks without football due to lockdown, footballers in all divisions are itching to get back out there.

In Airport Toyota Women's Premier Division, Keilor faces Hillside in a clash both sides have been waiting for.

The Blues have taken on every task they’ve faced this season, while the Sharks enter the match on the back of an upset loss.

The winner here can claim to be the premiership favourites.

Of the other matches, Oak Park and Burnside Heights is the most interesting. The Bears have finally broken through for a win, while Oak Park has shown some really good signs.

Westmeadows will be expected to bounce back against Aberfeldie, while Maribyrnong Park, which upset Hillside in its last start, will go in favourites against Essendon Doutta Stars.

In Airport Toyota Women's Division One, a Friday night matchup between Gisborne and Sunbury Lions kicks off an interesting round of football.

Gisborne has been one of the stronger teams in this division, while the Lions will get their first real test since stepping up a division.

Strathmore against Greenvale is another matchup that will shape the top four.

Strathmore has been in every match so far, while Greenvale has the goal scoring power to match it with any side.

Ladder leaders Moonee Valley will be hoping to bank another win, this time against Airport West.

It’s been a big few weeks for the Eagles, with coach Anthony Montrose stepping down from the role.

The other question in Division One, can Tullamarine break through for its first win of the season?

Opponent Pascoe Vale has shown it can play some good football, but it remains if it can consistently put together four quarters.

Airport Toyota Women's Division Two is starting to heat up with every team now on the board and fighting for a finals spot.

Sunbury Kangaroos and Burnside Heights both opened their accounts in the most recent round, and will now be looking to make it two in a row.

A win would go a long way in the finals race.

Moonee Valley and Westmeadows will be up nice and early at Ormond Park for the first game of the day.

Westmeadows won the last time these two teams met, but Moonee Valley has moved to top of the ladder since.

Coburg Districts will be hoping to cement its spot in the top four with victory against Maribyrnong Park.
