Airport Toyota Women’s Weekend Outlook - Round 11

By Tara Murray

And we’re back.

After a second enforced break due to a COVID-19 lockdown, all three women’s divisions will return to action this weekend.

The break though means one less regular season round and a reduced finals series, meaning wins are even more important in the run home.

In Airport Toyota Women's Premier Division, there’s four teams fighting for three finals spots.

With the reduction of the season, Keilor has sealed its finals spot with three rounds remaining.

The Blues though will play a crucial role in shaping the top four, playing three teams fighting for finals spots.

This week they face Oak Park, which had been one of the form teams of the competition.

The break came at the wrong time for the Kangaroos, who had started to find momentum winning five games in a row.

They will need to re-find that form if they are to knock off the Blues, who won a low scoring affair between the teams last time.

Maribyrnong Park against Westmeadows is the other match that will have a massive impact on the top four.

The two teams sit equal on points. Both these teams at times have been inconsistent, so it will likely come down to the team that can play four quarters.

Now is the time for them to find form with finals on the line.

Hillside should be too strong for Aberfeldie, while Essendon Doutta Stars and Burnside Heights could be a cracker between two teams that are out of the finals race.

In Airport Toyota Women's Division One, the battle between the Sunbury Lions and Greenvale is the most interesting.

The Lions will play finals and could still finish on top of the ladder.

The Jets need to keep winning to make sure they seal their spot.

This is the first time these two teams have faced each other this season, which adds to the intrigue.

Strathmore, which would have welcomed the break with a number of injuries, will be hoping to continue their strong form against Tullamarine.

Ladder leaders Moonee Valley would fancy itself against Pascoe Vale, while Gisborne will be hoping to bank a win against Airport West.

In Airport Toyota Women's Division Two, all three matches shape up as crackers.

Coburg Districts will be hoping to push ladder leaders Moonee Valley, which came off a rare loss in its last match.

Maribyrnong Park will be hoping to seal a finals spot with a win against Burnside Heights, while the Sunbury Kangaroos and Westmeadows was a thriller last time and the same could be expected again.
