Airport Toyota Women’s Weekend Outlook - Round 10

By Tara Murray

The Essendon District Football League women’s competition continues to deliver with another round of cracking matches.

The Airport Toyota Women's Premier Division race for finals will dominate the next few weeks, with five teams playing for four spots.

This week produces an ‘eight point’ match with Oak Park and Maribyrnong Park facing off, the two teams sit equal on points.

The Kangaroos are the most inform team in the competition having won their last four games.

The side has slowly built and had a few key inclusions in recent weeks including VFL player Marnie Jarvis.

The Lions are one of the more consistent sides in the competition and are in every match. They can't be taken lightly as shown in previous weeks.

The headline clash of Keilor and Aberfeldie, is unlikely to be what we would have seen in the past.

The Blues continue along on their merry way with Olivia Manfre starring in recent weeks.

Abers are still without a win and haven’t been able to get that consistency with player availability, with just six players playing every game.

They’ll be looking for that breakthrough win, but it's unlikely to come this week.

Westmeadows returned to form with their best win of the season, knocking off Hillside.

The Tigers have the talent led by Gemma Wright, it’s just a matter of putting it together.

This week they face Essendon Doutta Stars.

The Stars have shown some good signs this season, but haven’t been able to put it together consistently.

If the Stars play at their best, it could go down to the wire.

Hillside will be hoping to bounce back with a win against Burnside Heights in the other match.

In Airport Toyota Women's Division One, every match is critical in the fight for finals and to avoid the wooden spoon.

Not too often does the bottom side go in favourites to match, but it could be the case with Tullamarine and Pascoe Vale.

The Demons have started to find some form in recent weeks with things starting to click.

The Panthers only win the last five weeks has come against the Demons but a lot has changed since then.

At the other end of the ladder, you’ve got Strathmore facing Greenvale, with both sides wanting finals spots.

The Mores continue to show strong despite injuries and being short on numbers.

The likes of Eloise Freeman and Rebecca Said are keys in that side.

Greenvale returned to the winners list with a much needed win.

Haylea Cooke really stepped up for the Jets last week and expect her to play a big role again this week.

Gisborne hosts Sunbury Lions in another match that could shape the top four.

The Lions come into the match on the back of an interesting result where they still got the points despite not kicking a goal for three quarters.

They will need to be better than that against Gisborne, which again suffered a big loss to Moonee Valley.

Terira Fry continues to star for the Lions whether in the middle or up forward.

In the other match, undefeated Moonee Valley faces Airport West.

If recent form is anything to go by, the Fog are on track for another big win.

In Airport Toyota Women's Division Two, the top three sides are playing the bottom three sides.

Don’t expect three straightforward results.

Westmeadows is probably the clear favourite against a Burnside Heights side which is struggling.

Maribyrnong Park are coming off its best win and will be hoping to push Moonee Valley, while Coburg Districts and Sunbury Kangaroos played out a thriller and could be the same again.
