FOR Wilson Berry sport means a great deal, football particularly.
He started off his career at age nine with the Claremont District Football Development Council in Western Australia in 2006 and has played the game since ever since, progressing through the ranks from Aberfeldie juniors to the Calder Cannons in the Under 18s and then the Western Jets, where he was captain.
He was then drafted by Essendon VFL.
There are a number of TAC Cup players who go on to play at VFL level to try and put their best foot forward, add another string to their bow and convince AFL clubs that they are worth a shot.
For many players this could be next year or the year after that; or perhaps, many years down the track.
In the interim, Wilson has returned on occasion to play with Aberfeldie and although eligible for the Under 19.5 competition, has actually played most of his games in the higher grades with over half a dozen senior appearances this year alone.
His favourite inspirational AFL player is current Aberfeldie team-mate Kyle Reimers. Wilson likes playing at half-forward because of the chance to snag some goals.
He stands out with his big frame and is always keen to make an impact on the game.
He has consistently showed some pace and energy across half forward and is one of the few that flashes in and out throughout the game.
We know that ultimate success for Wilson could be just a few kicks away and everyone at Aberfeldie wishes him all the best.
