Roxburgh Park v Jacana
ALL the talk around Strathmore Community Bank Division 2 is on this battle after both teams have kicked big scores and had blowout wins of late.
Quick forward entries and consistency around the ground has been evident through the figure of over 12 different goal kickers last week for both teams.
The leaders will be important through the midfield with both captains in the Jags’ Michael Evans and Harley Short for the Magpies needing to contribute in big ways.
This will be highlighted in how hard these two and their teams go at the footy.
Who will lift?
Answers will be tough to tell until the very end as the Magpies are looking to become a big force of the division and the Jaguars want to continue their exciting recent form.
East Sunbury v Northern Saints
Fast starts aplenty for East Sunbury is a positive factor for them but to get over the top of the Northern Saints, this pace will be needed for the entire match.
Both teams will match up well around the ground, with speed and ball-users who possess good decision-making in both sides.
This is mainly seen through ball magnets of Thunder's Lucas Shaw and the Saints’ Wally Abbouchi, who will give it their all for their outfit and run all day.
Young but promising forwards in East Sunbury's Tom Burnside and the Northern Saints’ Nicholas Bruno will again need to lift and their pace and class will be tough for defenders to stop.
A game full of similar, quick game styles will result in a must-see match-up at Goonawarra and a close finish.
Burnside Heights v Moonee Valley
With the Bears hungry for a win to climb the ladder and Moonee Valley wanting to continue their positive form, this match should be one to watch with players going hard.
Even in losses, both teams tend to still finish with a high score.
This could result in a shoot-out between Lachie Cameron for Moonee Valley, who is in hot form as of late, and the home crowd’s fan favourite in Josh Covelli, who will slot many more majors after already kicking 30 for the season.
It will be an interesting match-up through size in this one, as the Fog like to use their height and strength around the ball, whereas speed across half back and the middle is the style of play when the Bears are fired up.
This use of strength is shown through Moonee Valley’s Rhys Gleisner, who has built in each game this year and is now getting in some promising form.
Contrasted with quickness and agility off half back from Burnside Heights’ Anthony Fawcus, we’re set for a lot of spark and an interesting game, with both teams putting it all on the line.
Coburg Districts v Keilor Park
Coburg Districts is flying high and still undefeated, and it has shown it is top dog of the division so far.
Although Keilor Park is at the opposite end of the spectrum and has not recorded a win, the Devils cannot be judged on effort… as it is there every week.
Energy and pace with the footy is something the Lions players pride themselves on and is definitely evident through the high intensity that James Scheriani plays with.
Aiden Cassar for the Devils will also be a prospect to watch as he has built each week, even in tough times, to gain plenty of the ball and set up his team mates well with countless forward entries.
This game will be one of high quality and pride will be on the line for both clubs.
