Round 6 Preview - Strathmore Community Bank Division 2

By LIAM McALLION

Northern Saints v Coburg Districts

THE Saints are hungry to bounce back and get a win, while the Lions are looking to continue their unbeaten streak.

For those reasons it will be a hard-fought match.

Northern Saints captain Daniel Boudoloh’s leadership through the midfield and his great communication and foot skills will be very important.

Tom Lucin will play a similar part for Coburg Districts.

As a result we’ll see plenty of contested ball but also fast transition movement of the footy.

Defensively we also have an even match-up, so this will be an enthralling game to watch.

Both teams will have to be inventive and hopefully the result will be a wonderful game of footy.

Moonee Valley v East Sunbury

A rocky start for Moonee Valley has them needing to prove how good they can be.

They need to fire up against a swift East Sunbury, who much like the Fog, are wanting to gain respect within Strathmore Community Bank Division 2.

The reliance on young players with little help from experienced players has hurt the Thunder so far this year, while the reliance on older leaders within Moonee Valley shows that both teams need other players to lift across the board to improve on their respective starts to the season.

Loui Oppedisano brings toughness each week and will again be a factor for the home side.

East Sunbury’s Lucas Shaw has of late been getting plenty of the ball, creating good service for his forwards.

The tactical battle will be important and it will be fascinating to see which players want to stand up for their side and deliver a win.

Jacana v Burnside Heights

Burnside Heights will be up and about this week after their first win in two years.

The Bears will have to bring the energy from a fortnight ago and hopefully replicate it for the entire game to beat one of the most in-form teams of the competition in Jacana.

The powerhouse forwards and fan favourites of the competition in Cameron Cloke for the Jags (who has kicked 26 majors) and the Bears’ Josh Covelli (21 goals) will be the headline acts in this one.

If the Bears can compete with Jacana through the midfield then we’ll see some good contested footy at both ends of the ground.

Keilor Park v Roxburgh Park

It was a tough loss for the Devils two weeks ago and now they’re hungrier than ever.

They will be itching to get a win against an in-form Roxburgh Park outfit who want to continue winning and climb the ladder.

Logan Clegg's on-field leadership has been admirable each week for Burnside Heights and will again be vital after a tough start to the year.

Harley Short is Roxburgh Park’s spiritual leader and has stepped up nicely since taking over the captaincy at the start of the year.

We should be in for a game where both teams will battle hard for the four points, as both teams want to prove a point after some interesting contests last season.
