Aberfeldie will travel to up the highway to Section Road this weekend to take on Greenvale for the first time in 2024.
The two league heavyweights have faced off in many famous matches over the years including multiple grand finals.
Both sides currently sit fourth and fifth respectively on the ladder and a home win for the Jets will see them be on equal points with Abers.
No Karl Brown saw Abers employ a different forward line over the King's Birthday weekend so it'll be interesting to see whether Clay Illman continues with that or makes a change.
Up the other end, Josh Porter and Ben Speight will be key players of interest for Aberfeldie to shut down with the pair combining for 37 goals this season.
Airport West will host Avondale Heights in an intriguing contest that could have huge ramifications come season’s end.
Both sides sit on one win for the year and occupy the bottom two spots on the ladder, however Airport West’s 92 point win over East Keilor saw them move off the bottom of the ladder for the first time this season.
Ned Gentile will be the one to watch for Airport West if the captain returns to the lineup with the local product being one of the most consistent contributors across the competition in 2024.
Keilor will be hoping to continue their dominant form when they host Essendon Doutta Stars at Joe Brown Oval.
Mick McGuane’s men continue to go from strength to strength in 2024 recording three successive 100-point wins in as many weeks against Avondale Heights, East Keilor, and Pascoe Vale.
Douttas will be hoping to re-capture some of that early season form which saw them knock off Avondale Heights and Airport West as well as putting up gallant performances against Strathmore and Greenvale.
Strathmore will play at the home of the EDFL for the second straight week when they take on Deer Park at Windy Hill.
The ground proved to be a happy hunting ground for Deer Park last year which saw them knock off West Coburg by 96 points in the Division One grand final.
A Deer Park win will see them move three games clear of the bottom and will all but ensure safety in their first season in Premier Division, however a win for the Mores will keep the pressure on second-place Pascoe Vale who sit one win above them.
The big watch will be on Majak Daw and how he will cope with Strathmore’s formidable defence.
The gun recruit has kicked 14 goals in his last two games include 11 against Avondale Heights three weeks ago.
East Keilor will be hoping to bounce back from last weekend’s drubbing to Airport West when they take on second-place Pascoe Vale at Raeburn Reserve.
It's been a rough two weeks for the Cougars who lost to the Eagles by 92 points and Keilor by 192 points the week before and currently sit in eighth spot with two wins and six losses for the season.
Another loss on Saturday will mean East Keilor will sit in ninth spot and only one win above the relegation zone.
A big win for the Panthers will help solidify themselves as the second-best team in the competition and remain a game clear of Strathmore in third.
Despite the rough couple of weeks, prized recruit Lachlan Smart’s form has still been strong for the Cougars kicking 23 goals from his eight games this year.
Craigieburn will host Tullamarine in a match that could shape the Eagles' finals aspirations.
A win will almost certainly give the Eagles a two game buffer inside the top five halfway through the season with Oak Park set to face West Coburg and Roxburgh Park taking on Hillside.
The Demons have shown plenty of signs of improvement without taking home the four points.
They went down by 10 points to Roxburgh Park and were able to match Hillside and St Albans for three quarters before fading late.
After a quiet two weeks, Jake Carlisle will be hoping to re-capture the form that saw him kick seven goals against Rupertswood, while Tullamarine vice captain Steven Vocale will be hoping to continue his superb start to the 2024 season.
Oak Park has a great opportunity to test themselves against one of the best sides in the competition when they face West Coburg at JP Fawkner Reserve.
The newly promoted side hasn’t played since May 25 after a bye in Round 8 but did record one of its best wins of the year against Craigieburn before the break.
Despite the displayed improvement week on week, it'll be a big effort to topple a West Coburg outfit that looks every bit as good as it did last year and then some.
Hillside will look to get back on the winner's list when they travel to Lakeside Oval to take on Roxburgh Park.
The Sharks endured a small fault two weeks ago losing its first game of the year to Maribyrnong Park by six goals.
Roxy ae coming off a strong win against Tullamarine with the Magpies finding plenty of avenues to goal.
Once again Josh Covelli will be the one to stop for the Magpies if they have any chance of winning this game.
The full forward has booted 54 goals in 2024 and looks set to break through the three figure mark barring injury.
St Albans travel to Ormond Park to take on Moonee Valley for the first time in 2024.
The Saints have been in fine form winning their last six games including a 104-point win over Rupertswood in Round 8.
Moonee Valley recorded a much-needed 30-point win last week against Keilor Park which moved them into ninth spot and crucially above Rupertswood in tenth place.
Despite not winning as many games as they would’ve liked this year, the Valley have fought hard thanks to the efforts of Ben Ryan and Captain Bevan Newell.
Mason Dipetta has been in fine form for the Saints with 20 goals in 2024 while Atu Bosenuvulagi has shown his class.
Maribyrnong Park will head to Salesian College for the first time to take on Rupertswood.
Marby recorded their best win of the year in Round 8 when they were the first side to knock off Hillside.
Despite a slow start to the year, the Lions have come roaring back to life and sit only a game outside the top two which will give them the best possible chance of returning to the top flight.
Rupertswood on the other hand are in desperate need of a win as they currently sit in tenth spot and could go down one year after making a preliminary final.
Thomas Wyatt has been huge for Marby especially in their last win when he kicked eight goals, while Clayton Bonello has been one of Rupertswood’s best in 2024 with 21 goals.
Coburg Districts will be hoping to record their third win for the year when they take on East Sunbury.
Its been a difficult year for both sides with the Thunder yet to win a game and Coburg Districts winning only twice this year.
The Lions fell just short in Round 8 when they went down by eight points to Northern Saints while East Sunbury had the bye.
Jack Gusman will be one to watch for the Districts having kicked 14 goals in his seven games this year.
Taylors Lakes travel to Eric Boardman Reserve to take on the Sunbury Kangaroos.
Taylors Lakes are still undefeated in 2024 and look to be one of the most formidable sides in the competition.
The Kangaroos' form has been up and down for much of the season and sit in fourth spot with four wins and three losses, and were able to overcome a gallant Glenroy side by four points just before the break.
Taylors Lakes took the four points in their Round 1 meeting after powering away in the final quarter, but will have to do without Ben Weightman this time which they've shown they're capable of.
Hadfield will be looking to test themselves and keep the pressure on Sunbury when they face Westmeadows in one of the games of the round.
Both sides put up disappointing performances just before the break with Hadfied going down to ladder leaders Burnside Heights by 89 points, while Westmeadows lost to second-place Taylors Lakes by 100 points.
Westy's forward line has been led by Rex Hickman and Aaron Evans in 2024 with both men kicking 18 and 17 goals respectively, whereas Jack Wallace has been the Hawks' most dangerous forward with 15 goals.
Glenroy will be hoping to get on the right side of the result when they take on Northern Saints at Sewell Reserve.
Their last three games have been losses by 10 points or less, two of which decided by less than a kick.
Northern Saints have started to capture the form we expected of them during that same stretch and will be keen to carry momentum into this clash.
Both sides haven’t been able to challenge for the top four this year with Glenroy picking up just the one win and Northern Saints just the two.
Khoder Taleb has been one of the best players in the competition and leads the goal kicking with 26 goals from his seven games.
Taleb holds the keys for the Saints if they want to win their third game for the year.
Aaron Kite has shown plenty in his return to Glenroy despite the difficult start to the year with 22 goals from his seven games and will need to hit the scoreboard again if Glenroy want to win.
