Airport West will take on Pascoe Vale this Saturday at Hansen Reserve.
The Eagles are currently last on the ladder and winless so far after six games, their most recent game a 22-point loss to Greenvale in a valiant effort that just wasn’t enough to get them a win.
They'll play against a Pascoe Vale side recovering from a 133-point loss to Keilor which will see them either low on confidence, or incredibly hungry to bounce back.
The Panthers only managed a single goal against Keilor for the whole match which occurred in the opening quarter.
After the first change, it was pretty much one-way traffic against Pacco who simply couldn't match Keilor’s relentlessness.
How can the Panthers respond?
The undefeated Keilor host East Keilor at Joe Brown Oval this weekend.
Keilor are coming off a huge win against Pascoe Vale which somehow has made them an even more ominous prospect to face.
Impressively Keilor had 13 goalkickers in the dominant win showing they aren’t reliant on just one or two forwards to kick their goals.
East Keilor are coming off a 20-point loss to Essendon Doutta Stars in which they dropped off in the second half, something they can't afford to do this week.
Lachlan Smart continued his good goalkicking form slotting four goals and taking his season tally to 19 and will be a primary focus in the forward half for Mick McGuane.
East Keilor came as close as anyone to Keilor in 2023 and will be hoping to do the same.
Deer Park will battle it out against Avondale Heights at John McLeod Reserve.
Deer Park are coming off a 122-point thrashing at the hands of Aberfeldie as their record this season now sits at one win from six matches.
Deer Park showed little resistance against Aberfeldie as the two blues piled on 25 goals to just the six from Deer Park.
Avondale are also coming off a 100-point loss and will also be looking to respond and try to build some momentum in what has been a tough stretch.
Strathmore will face off against Greenvale at Sewell Reserve in a match that is crucial to both teams.
Strathmore are fresh off a 100-point demolition of Avondale Heights and their only losses so far have come against the two teams above them on the ladder.
Greenvale on the other hand, while also only having lost two games, have struggled against teams below them on the ladder which Strathmore beat relatively easily.
The Jets will see their match against Strathmore as a great opportunity to prove they are finals contenders who can match it with the best teams.
Essendon Doutta Stars will play Aberfeldie at Nipper Jordan Oval to round out the top flight's action.
Essendon Doutta Stars have had a mixed start to the season so far with three wins and three losses and are coming off a stifling win against East Keilor.
Douttas showed great attacking prowess and a strong ability to run out the game.
Aberfeldie scored a huge win over Deer Park last weekend in a result that showed the experience and class of Abers.
Aberfeldie were deadly in front of goal booting 25 majors with Josh Kemp and Karl Brown booting seven goals each.
Brown now has 24 goals this season leading the goalkicking tally by five goals, and will come up against his former side.
Craigieburn will take on Oak Park at Highgate Recreation Reserve to kick off Division One.
Craigieburn have had a great season thus far having lost only one game from five and are coming into this clash with a 100-point win over Keilor Park under their belt.
The Eagles dominated from start to finish and forward John Bellino was particularly impressive slotting eight goals.
Oak Park are coming off an 11-point loss to Hillside and while not a win, the Kangaroos will take great confidence from the fact they were able to push the undefeated Hillside all the way.
The Kangaroos have played some competitive football this season and will see this weekend's game as another opportunity to show they can match it with some top sides.
Hillside hosts Keilor Park this Saturday at Hillside Recreation Reserve.
Hillside remain undefeated after a late comeback from Oak Park was not enough to end Hillside’s early season dominance.
Josh Covelli was the star of the show for Hillside as he has been so often this season, booting eight majors to take his season tally to an outstanding 36 goals.
Keilor Park will be looking to keep Covelli’s influence to a minimum this weekend as they try to bounce back from a tough 100-point loss to Craigieburn.
Keilor Park currently sit last and winless after six games and will find it next to impossible to get their first win against the first placed Hillside.
A well-rested St Albans will battle it out at Kings Park Reserve against a Tullamarine outfit keen to build some momentum on the season.
The Demons recorded their second win last week with a 54-point triumph over Moonee Valley buoyed by returning stars.
A win for Tulla will keep them in touch of the finals group and a game behind the Saints which will be pivotal for the confidence of the group moving forward.
Roxburgh Park will play Rupertswood at Lakeside Reserve this weekend with both teams coming off tough losses.
Roxburgh Park are looking to bounce back this weekend as they suffered a tough 118-point loss in their last game against Maribyrnong Park.
Roxy simply had no answers to Marby’s dominance and fell apart in the last term, conceding nine goals while only scoring one themselves.
Rupertswood weren’t any better, thumped by 148 points against West Coburg.
Rupertswood could not contain West Coburg’s many goalkicking options with four players West Coburg booting four or more goals.
This week is an opportunity for both sides to wipe those defeats and build some confidence.
Moonee Valley will face off against West Coburg at Ormond Park to round out the weekend's action.
The Fog struggled last week against Tullamarine losing by 54 points, and a matchup against West Coburg is not an ideal follow up match.
Ben Ryan’s four goals were a positive in the loss against Tulla and the Valley will be hoping he brings his kicking boots for this week’s game.
West Coburg will be confident after a massive 148-point demolition job on Rupertswood.
It was an all-round performance from the Burgers who kept Rupertswood to just four goals while piling on 27 of their own from 40 shots at goal.
If West Coburg bring that same form to this weeks match, then Moonee Valley will need to be at their best.
The unbeaten Burnside Heights host the Sunbury Kangaroos at Burnside Heights Recreation Reserve.
Burnside had a tough match last weekend against Glenroy but did just enough, winning by three points to keep their undefeated streak alive.
The Bears trailed at the final change but were just able to overcome Glenroy kicking three goals to two in the final term.
Sunbury Kangaroos suffered a 27-point loss to Westmeadows which is indicative of an inconsistent season thus far, but they'll certainly remain confident they can beat the best.
Coburg Districts will face off against local rival Glenroy this weekend at Cole Reserve.
Districts are coming off a bye from last week which they will hope has helped them reset after a tough start to the season so far.
After winning their first game of the season, Coburg Districts has gone on to lose their last four by narrow margins and are currently sitting second last on the ladder.
Glenroy have also only won a single game so far, but a close loss to the unbeaten Burnside by less than a goal will give them confidence going forward that they can beat any team on their day.
East Sunbury take on Hadfield at John McMahon Recreation Reserve.
East Sunbury’s struggles continued last weekend after they lost by 62 points to the Northern Saints.
Positively for East Sunbury, they were able to create 20 scoring shots but their execution was off only kicking six goals.
Hadfield were demolished by Taylors Lakes last weekend and will see this week’s match as a big chance to get back on the winner's board.
The Hawks have had a bit of a mixed start to the season so far with two wins and three losses and will see this match as a way to get some winning momentum going forward.
Taylors Lakes will play Northern Saints at Lionheart Reserve to round out the weekend's action.
The Lions are still unbeaten after a massive win over Hadfield last weekend as they continue to push their premiership credentials.
In a very promising sign from the Lakers, they were able to score 21 goals without star forward Ben Weightman.
Northern Saints recorded their first win of the season last week as the 62-point win will surely get the group going as they look to build their season.
