ABERFELDIE 2 v COBURG DISTRICTS
Sunday 2:20pm at Aberfeldie Park West
ABERFELDIE 2 almost stole the game from the Essendon Doutta Stars last week with a kick after the siren, but it wasn’t to be.
The end result was a two-point victory to the Stars (6.3-39 to 6.5-41).
Jacqueline Wade, down from the Premier Division side, booted three goals for Aberfeldie and was complemented by Paige Harvey with two.
Siobhan Carlton’s link up play was also important for the home team.
Coburg Districts headed to Canning Reserve on Friday night, but Avondale Heights led from start-to-finish to secure their first win of the season, leaving the Lions still search for theirs.
Madeleine Curotte was able to kick her second goal of the season in the last quarter to give Districts something to celebrate, with Abbey Lord named as her side’s best.
Aberfeldie will be another test for Coburg Districts as they continue to grow as a team.
GREENVALE v AVONDALE HEIGHTS
Sunday 2:20pm at Greenvale Recreation Reserve
Avondale Heights was able to break through for its first win of Season 2019 and sing the song after a five-goal-to-one win over the Coburg Districts last week.
Isabella Iaccino was the Heights’ leading goal kicker with two and was named among the best, which also featured the consistently proficient Affinity Miller and Rita Ceravolo, as well as Hajer Mohamed, Nusayba Mohamed and Daisy Samuel.
Greenvale had limited players available for Round 6 and consequently posted a forfeit with key playmaker, Fredda Puruntatameri, lining up for Essendon in VFL Women’s.
Both teams look to be evenly matched coming into this one at Section Road on Sunday afternoon as eighth and ninth battle it out for their second win of the year.
