ABERFELDIE enhanced its claim for premiership favouritism with a strong 30-point win over Greenvale on Saturday.
At a windy Clifton Park, Abers was slow out of the gates against the previously undefeated Jets and conceded the only four goals of the opening term, before steadying in the second.
From there the two-time reigning premiers kicked clear, booting nine goals to four in the second half to remain undefeated at 4-0 to start 2019.
With the in-form Kyle Reimers being kept goalless, Josh Pound (three goals) combined with Josh Cubillo (two) to contribute a bulk of Aberfeldie’s scoring for the day.
Jacob Thompson was Greenvale’s only multiple goal kicker with two.
Despite the loss, the Jets remain third on the Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division table at 3-1, while Aberfeldie sits second.

Roys Send Eagles Into Relegation Hotseat

AIRPORT West is the last remaining Premier Division team without a win after going down to 2017 Division 1 Grand Final nemesis, Glenroy.
The winless Eagles posted an awful 5.13-43 as Glenroy took hold of the contest from the outset, steadily building its lead through the first three quarters of the game.
With Aaron Kite out of action, Adam Winter (pictured during the 2017 Division 1 Grand Final) proved invaluable in his return to the line-up, kicking three of his side’s 13 goals, while Lachie Ronaldson also proved handy on his return, also booting three.
One positive for Airport West was the continued good form of Damandeep Aujla, who kicked two of his side’s five majors for the day.
The 53-point win moved Glenroy out of the relegation hotseat and into eighth spot, and left the Eagles in last at 0-4.

Cougars Pushed But Still Too Good For Sharks

FOR the first time under Pat Christofi, East Keilor was tested for four quarters of footy at Shark Park on Saturday.
On the EDFL Match of the Day stage, Hillside managed to keep up with the hottest team in Division 1, but ultimately couldn’t get the job done, going down by 16 points.
Two of the division’s best forwards in Hillside’s Brandon Coletta (six goals) and East Keilor’s Dion Hill (five) were in good form, providing for an entertaining contest that remained surprisingly high-scoring given the wet and windy conditions typical for Shark Park.
But the difference in the end was Hillside’s inability to convert when it mattered, as well as the midfield dominance of new Cougars pair Nathan Lyons and Josh Grabowski, who was named the Meadows Greyhounds Best-On-Ground.
The Cougars are now the only Division 1 side left undefeated after Craigieburn fell two points short of Westmeadows in a thriller at Willowbrook Reserve.

Pies Score Important Win Over Kangaroos
ROXBURGH Park was arguably the biggest winner out of the weekend’s action after outlasting Oak Park on Saturday.
Neither side had won a game coming into the Round 4 clash at Lakeside Drive and both came to play, trading blows on the scoreboard in what was an entertaining battle.
The Kangaroos broke clear in the second term with five goals to two but allowed the Magpies back into the game in the third.
Roxburgh Park piled on seven goals to three after the main break to lead by 12 points at three-quarter time, before finishing the job by restricting Oak Park to just 1.3 in the last.
The final margin could have been much larger than two goals, given Roxburgh Park posted 28 scoring shots to Oak Park’s 16 for the day.
Brandon McLarty was the main man up front in silver, black and white, kicking four goals alongside John Colaidis and skipper Harley Short (two each).
Aden Harris kicked three for the winless Kangaroos.
The quirky nature of Division 1 means that despite getting the win, Roxburgh Park remains last on the table on percentage, due to the automatic four premiership points Oak Park received from its Round 2 bye.

BURNSIDE Heights’ chances of qualifying for its maiden Strathmore Community Bank Division 2 Finals Series improved with a hard-fought six-point win over the Northern Saints.
But the Bears had to work hard for their fourth successive win after the visiting Saints stormed out of the blocks to establish a 20-point halftime buffer.
Led by the in-form Anthony Fawcus (five goals) and Vincent Angelone (one), the Bears steadied in the third quarter with five unanswered goals to regain control of the game before Northern got to kick toward the scoring end in the last, making for a thrilling finish at Tenterfield Drive.
Despite being outscored by four goals to three in the final term, Burnside Heights held on to keep its unblemished record intact and remains second on the table behind only the Sunbury Kangaroos, who also had to fight hard to claim victory over Hadfield at Martin Reserve.

Fog Boots Eleven In Last To Topple Jags
MOONEE Valley finally has a win to its name after powering away from Jacana on Saturday.
The Fog has had an indifferent start to 2019, suffering competitive losses to Burnside Heights and the Northern Saints.
At Jacana on Saturday they found themselves in a dog fight against the equally-desperate Jaguars and it wasn’t until the final term when the Valley managed to kick clear.
Up by 11 points at the final change, Moonee Valley booted 11 goals to two in the final term to blow away the home team.
Jordan Faba returned to the line-up and combined well with the in-form Rocky Ferraro, with the pair combining for seven goals in what turned out to be a 67-point win.
For Jacana, Cameron Cloke and Corey McCawley both kicked two of their side’s nine goals in a game where the Jags’ lack of depth was exposed once more.

Blues Make A Statement At The Den
KEILOR reminded its EDFL Women’s - Premier rivals of what it is capable of on Friday night, demolishing the previously undefeated Burnside Heights at Tenterfield Drive.
Brooke Todero continued her good form in front of goal with four goals while Renee Melton kicked two in a best-on-ground display as the Blues asserted their dominance over the Bears from the outset, kicking 3.8-26 to nothing in the opening term.
The Bears’ only goal of the match came off the boot of captain Kayla Ravanello in the second quarter.
But her side failed to make full use of the scoring end and allowed Keilor to put the game beyond doubt in third quarter by conceding five unanswered goals after the main break.
The final margin was 61 points, with the Blues posting 24 scoring shots to Burnside Heights’ three.
Due to percentage, the Bears remain above Keilor on the ladder in second spot, below an undefeated Aberfeldie side that made light work of the Sunbury Kangaroos at Clifton Park on Friday night.
