Round 15 Preview - Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division

By JACOB MANZIE

PASCOE VALE v ABERFELDIE

AFTER finding some belief and defeating some of the better sides in the competition, Pascoe Vale were on a bit of a roll.

However, Greenvale were quickly able to shut down the Panthers and prove to them why they’re sitting on top of the ladder come Round 15 in Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division.

This weekend they will face second-on-the-ladder Aberfeldie, in what will be another very tough test for the home side.

Aberfeldie have managed to utilise their great depth and experience and conjure up what has been an impressive season, and Pascoe Vale are one of few teams that stand in their way heading into finals.

Last time they met Abers made it look easy with a comfortable win.

Let's see if the Panther can change it up and surprise Aberfeldie.

GREENVALE v KEILOR

In what has been a very up and down season for Keilor, there have definitely been some impressive signs at times throughout the 2017 season.

They would certainly enjoy knocking off flag favourite Greenvale on their home deck at Section Road here.

In their last outing Greenvale made pretty quick work of Keilor and grabbed the win by 54 points.

Greenvale were able to reduce Keilor’s avenue to goal and single out Dean Galea, as he was the only multiple goal kicker.

Keilor will be sure to watch Addam Maric as well as Fortunato Caruso, whom were strong for the Jets.

In the context of the season, there is much on the line for either team, however Greenvale will want to continue their winning form with finals around the corner.

WEST COBURG v CRAIGIEBURN – Radio Game @ Coburg City Oval

With no wins for the 2017 season, Craigieburn could possibly grab the points against West Coburg this weekend if they play like they did last week.

After sitting only three points behind Strathmore in the third quarter last weekend, Craigieburn showed positive signs.

Coming up against West Coburg, whom sit one spot above them on the Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division ladder, there is every chance of Craigieburn causing an upset if they get the jump on the home side.

West Coburg haven’t been able to grab a win since they knocked off Strathmore in what was an impressive performance, so they will be hungrier than ever this weekend.

However, they may lack the confidence and determination they need.

If Craigieburn can come out strong early and stay in possession of the football, they may be able take it home from there.

MARIBYRNONG PARK v AVONDALE HEIGHTS

After a few shaky games over the past five weeks, Maribyrnong Park managed to steady against Keilor last week in what was a must-win game to ensure they would have a finals campaign.

Now from here on out, the Lions will want to find their peak form again and take it into September.

Last time they crossed paths with Avondale Heights they strung together a good four quarters and controlled the game, taking home the points.

However, Avondale Heights have found some decent form themselves and will be ready to come out hard from the first bounce.

If they can shut down Jock Cornell and Robbie Castello - who gave them trouble in the last outing - the Heights will give themselves every chance of an upset.

If the Lions are ready to go, however, it may be a tough day for the Heights at Monk Oval.

STRATHMORE v ESSENDON DOUTTA STARS

After a confident start to the year, Essendon Doutta Stars haven’t been able to keep up with the pace of the 2017 season.

Let’s see if it shows against one of the top four in Strathmore.

The two will face off at Lebanon Reserve in what should be a good game of hard football.

Last time these two met, Strathmore were able to get the jump on Essendon Doutta Stars and take home the win by 40 points.

Can the Stars do anything differently this weekend to turn the tables?

It will be interesting to see which of the five senior players will come back into the squad for Strathmore after there were multiple outs for their game against Craigieburn.

The Stars couldn’t keep up with Aberfeldie last weekend as they were blown away in the first three quarters.

Let see if they can pull their socks up to put up a strong, hard contest.
