NORTHERN SAINTS v MOONEE VALLEY
BOTH teams may at some point play each other in the finals and this is the chance to test tactics, making for an interesting contest at Charles Mutton Reserve.
Respectively locked into third and fourth positions on the Strathmore Community Bank Division 2 ladder, both teams will want to get into winning form before the finals and they match up extremely well.
Ned Wilson, who is having another great season for the Fog, will be again vital while Wally Abbouchi should again have an important impact for the Saints.
It’s a great all round match-up with both teams featuring bigger bodies, so this will be a hard-hitting, close match, with a lot of talent on display.
Expect a finals-like atmosphere.
EAST SUNBURY v COBURG DISTRICTS
Coburg Districts, being on top of the ladder for the majority of the season, is still trying to cement the minor premiership ahead of the Jags.
The Lions will try to gain a big win here, but the Thunder’s swift game play and young talent match up well against an experienced away side.
Forty-four goals for Lion Luke Vesnaver and 33 for the Thunder’s Tom Burnside will provide an exciting atmosphere with two crowd favourites in consistent form on display.
Both teams are well-suited here at the big ground of John McMahon Reserve.
With open forward lines and plenty of space for run-and-carry, this should be a high-standard game.
BURNSIDE HEIGHTS v JACANA
The battle of two of the competition’s most prominent and skilful forwards is on offer here at Tenterfield Drive.
With a combined total of 160 goals for the season between Burnside Heights’ Josh Covelli and Jacana’s Cam Cloke, we might see some big bombs from outside and around 50.
If we do, this could turn out to be a thriller.
The Bears are looking to avoid yet another wooden spoon and will want to again be competitive here.
With skilful leaders in their side playing well each week, this could be a real possibility.
At the other end of the ladder is Jacana, flying high and needing to keep winning to claim the minor premiership from Coburg Districts.
They will come out hard and their swift ball movement will be on display as they try to head into the finals on a positive note.
KEILOR PARK v ROXBURGH PARK
This battle of the ‘Parks’ seems to always bring a lot of hard contests and goals at each end, resulting in a close, exciting match-up.
Keilor Park’s competitiveness of late doesn't show on the ladder and towards the end of the season, their pride could rally them to get another win on the board here.
The Magpies will come out hard at the ball and the body to try and shut down the vocal and always loyal home Devils crowd.
Tumay Hamza, such a big part of the Magpies outfit and Devils skipper Pete Corredig, both show great leadership and seem to perform and get on the scoreboard on a consistent basis.
They provide real threats around the ground for both sides and it will be exciting to see what they can deliver in this one.
