THE Westmeadows Football Club last night confirmed it has accepted the resignation of coach, Dave Connell.
Connell came to Willowbrook at the end of 2013 with the club dwelling near the bottom of the Essendon Ford Division 1 table.
Under Connell, the Tigers made finals in 2014, 2015 and 2016 but did not score win in any of those years.
This year injuries and unavailability has dogged Westmeadows and left the Tigers languishing in seventh spot at 4-7 on the Essendon Ford Division 1 table.
Connell will coach out the remainder of the season.
“I would like to sincerely thank Peter Nield, Danny Hale, Shannon O’Brien and Mark Ramsay who four years ago were instrumental in getting me to the football club,” Connell said via a statement on the club’s website.
“Along with Andrew Brown and Gareth Hanlon, we all had a plan in place to rebuild the footy club on-field and although we didn’t get the ultimate success, to come from finishing on the bottom in 2013 with two wins to then play in three consecutive finals series is something we can all be proud of.”
