Round 13 Preview - Strathmore Community Bank Division 2

By LIAM McALLION

EAST SUNBURY v MOONEE VALLEY – Radio Game

The closest two teams on the ladder in the entire competition are in this match-up up at Goonawarra Reserve and the Thunder’s home crowd will be boisterous to rally their team into a finals spot, which is currently with the Fog marginally by percentage.

This is a must-win game for either side and will ultimately decide whether they will play finals or not.

This will bring out a tough brand of footy where players will leave nothing on the field and make for a thrillingly close game.

Moonee Valley's tough in-and-under style with athletic forwards, contrasts greatly with East Sunbury's pace across their large home ground, making for a high-scoring match that will come down to the final siren and ultimately shift the top four.

COBURG DISTRICTS v NORTHERN SAINTS

Powerhouses of Strathmore Community Bank Division 2 are head-to-head in this match-up and with first against third, a win for either team here could really shake up the finals campaign.

The Lions’ form cannot be faulted and they are fully deserving to be at the top.

However, nerves will kick in over the next few weeks as the Jaguars are only one win behind that top spot and the Saints this week will be one of their toughest match-ups for the season.

It was a close encounter last time with the fitness of the Lions proving too much to handle for the Saints.

This will make them even hungrier to get the win and knock down the immense competition in the top two spots.

BURNSIDE HEIGHTS v JACANA

With the Bears precariously floating just above the wooden spoon and the Jaguars still hunting that number one spot, both teams are out to prove that they are better than the teams around them on the ladder and will bring a ferocious attitude.

Two of the sharpest shooters the division has ever seen are head-to-head in this match-up, which could result in some major goal hauls and a high-scoring affair.

Burnside Heights fan favourite Josh Covelli is second in the division with 56 goals already this season.

It’s an astonishing effort but outdone by Jacana's key man and the most in-form player of the competition in Cameron Cloke - who already has 75 majors and is quickly closing in on the century.

Exciting players for both teams and an old school quick, long and direct style could make this match much more exciting than the ladder suggests, and will include many memorable moments.

ROXBURGH PARK v KEILOR PARK

The Devils’ first win for the season last week will have their confidence sky high and will lift the playing group’s belief that they can get another.

With great leadership and signs of great positivity against higher teams as of late, the Magpies are still eyeing off that last finals spot and with some consistency can still rise up the ladder.

It may seem almost out of reach to many but Roxburgh Park will want to get back into some form and prove to their home crowd that they mean business this season.
