Round 12 Preview - Strathmore Community Bank Division 2

By LIAM McALLION

NORTHERN SAINTS v ROXBURGH PARK

WITH the Northern Saints seeing light of their first finals berth in four years, they will not take a backwards step and continue some good form.

Roxburgh Park are still hopeful for a chance later in the year and will bring a tough attitude in every contest to try and make up on their two-win deficit from the top four.

The Northern Saints’ young outfit will play with flare and their overall enjoyment of footy leads to many highlights and always brings a big crowd down to Charles Mutton Reserve.

This type of positivity is a big factor in the high standard they play it and is a great spectacle.

Roxburgh Park, however, seeming like the underdogs, recorded a solid win against the Saints last time and have great belief to do it again.

Redemption and self-belief are a big part of this game and with big bodies and skilful runners on the ground, it should be a thriller.

EAST SUNBURY v COBURG DISTRICTS

Both teams are in the best form they’ve had for a while and are looking to consolidate their spot on the ladder and push for finals action.

East Sunbury, since coming to the EDFL, has not made finals at senior level but with the in-form Tom Burnside in front of goal with 28 goals to his name, finals is a real possibility.

The immense pace that the Thunder is playing their footy with means they could well jump the Fog over the next few weeks for a top four spot.

Coburg Districts are still flying high on the top of the ladder but have some real competitors gaining on them.

Only one win above the Jaguars, the Lions will give it their all in every contest.

With both teams eager to gain control of a spot in the finals, some high-class, tough footy will be on display and it will be one to watch.

JACANA v MOONEE VALLEY

The Jaguars are now surging and the most in-form team of Strathmore Community Bank Division 2.

They are hunting the Lions for top spot.

The attacking style of Jacana makes them the most exciting team in the competition and with Moonee Valley’s good ball-use, the crowd at Jacana Reserve will not be disappointed.

Moonee Valley is just clutching onto the last finals spot by percentage and will be eager to be competitive and perhaps steal a win to stay above the Thunder on the ladder.

Cameron Cloke is almost a sole reason to get down to this match-up.

He now has 69 goals for the Jags this season and eyeing off a century before finals even begin.

This is a must-see affair.

KEILOR PARK v BURNSIDE HEIGHTS

Although finals are not on the cards for these teams, they’ll both be keen to get a win here.

Keilor Park will want to prove they do not deserve to be the competition’s wooden-spooner.

The Devils will want to make amends for last time they played and lost to the Bears.

Burnside Heights shocked the competition last time these teams played and were able to record their first win in two years.

This will be a driving force for them as the belief is there to do the same again.

Both teams have improved as the season has progressed.

With Josh Covelli, who has already bagged 54 goals this season for the Bears at one end and the Devils’ Jordan Garita using skill to gain plenty of the ball around the ground, this will be a great game and well fought out until the final siren.
