2024 Women's Season Preview - Keilor Park

#RoadToWindyHill

The 2024 season is just around the corner so EDFL Media will be previewing each club heading into Round One. Next, we chat to new Keilor Park coach Luke Baker who provides some insights on their 2024 campaign.

Coach: Luke Baker

PRE-SEASON FOCUS

"The biggest focus being a new team has obviously been recruiting, numbers are important but we also wanted to recruit young and talented players to develop and build a core group together for the coming years.

"We were also focusing on specifics around player roles and implementing our game plan."

PLAYERS TO WATCH

"We have a great group of young players that I’m really excited to see develop and play this season.

"Erin Robertson has been in great form through our practice matches and she’s a player I’ve wanted to coach for a few years."

2024 OUTLOOK

"Obviously we would love to be playing finals in our first year but our main goal has honestly been to be a team that’s as close as possible, both on and off the field.

"We're also looking to establish our culture and standards we want to represent each week."

RAPID FIRE WITH LUKE BAKER

Shot after the siren to win, who do you want kicking it?

That’s a tough one! But I’d have to go with Caitlyn Crameri.

Biggest pest at the club?

Keira Dorrington! Always good for a laugh though!

Who might be viewed as the coach's pet?

I’m sure all of the girls would say my captain Mia Tournas without a doubt haha.

Who’d put their hand up to be the pre-game DJ?

I’m sure nearly the whole team will put their hand up to be honest, so whoever’s the loudest will probably get their way!

Which side are you looking forward to playing the most and why?

As we are a new team we're looking forward to playing every team and having fresh competition each week. But if I had to pick I'd say Burnside as they’re a quality team, should be lots of orange in that game as well haha.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

The Keilor Park Senior Women's side is back and they've moved straight into Airport Toyota Women's Division One! Coach Luke Baker has been able to bring across players with experience to ensure they compete but also continue to stick together in the reformed Women's program with some on-field success.
