2024 Women's Season Preview - Aberfeldie

#RoadToWindyHill

The 2024 season is just around the corner so EDFL Media will be previewing each club heading into Round One. Next, we chat to new Aberfeldie coach Rob Green who provides some insights on their 2024 campaign.

Coach: Rob Green

PRE-SEASON FOCUS

"The focus was around engaging with everyone on our list and giving players an opportunity to develop their game. Making sure all players stay involved."

PLAYERS TO WATCH

"Larissa Zammit, Elizabeth Woerndle and Maddison Wilczynski are a few to watch that have come up through our junior program. We are proud of what they have achieved and they have so much ahead of them."

2024 OUTLOOK

"As a collective, our goals are to be competitive each week and bring effort each time. Playing finals is a clear goal."

RAPID FIRE WITH ROB GREEN

Shot after the siren to win, who do you want kicking it?

Jessica Moloney.

Biggest pest at the club?

Haven't located one yet!

Who might be viewed as the coach's pet?

Emily Heaney.

Who’d put their hand up to be the pre-game DJ?

Amber Wescombe.

Which side are you looking forward to playing the most and why?

All teams that finished in the top four last season – it's great to see Essendon Doutta Stars in the comp as well.

Every team in the competition will have raised the level of footy so hopefully that will bring out the best in the Aberfeldie Women's teams in 2024.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

It was a dominant 2023 season for Aberfeldie who lost just two games – the final home and away game by a point and the grand final. Despite not jumping the final hurdle, they still established themselves as the best side for most of the season and 2024 should be no different. They've welcomed some handy inclusions but how much they'll play remains to be seen. Regardless, they'll be in a position to go again for the ultimate prize.
