2022 Rookie Me Division One Team of the Year

Full 22 Revealed

All ten teams of the Rookie Me Division One competition are represented in the 2022 Division One Team of the Year.

After claiming premiership glory and promotion to the EDFL's top flight, six Airport West players made the final team and are duly the most represented of the ten clubs.

Upon his return to the Eagles in season 2022, Tyson Young has been named in the middle of the park as the team's centre.

Joining Young in the midfield is Anthony Prestia (Tullamarine) and Zak Saad (Rupertswood), while last year's Division Two League Best and Fairest Winner, Bevan Newell (Moonee Valley), has been named in the ruck, following the Fog's promotion to Division One this season.

Saad's Rupertswood teammate Jackson Cardillo makes one wing with Hillside's Zak Wunhym on the other.

Down back, Airport West's Clayton Rogers has been selected at full back for the second consecutive season, with teammate Daniel Sinnott on the half back flank.

West Coburg captain Dane Lucas stands tall at centre half back with William Agius (Moonee Valley), Dominic Micallef (Tullamarine) and Jamie Gorgievski (Craigieburn) make up the rest of the back six.

The team of the year forward line would have any defence terrified however with a star studded line up in the front arc.

After his move to Hillside for the 2022 season, Josh Covelli takes the full forward position after slotting home 75 majors in the home-and-away rounds to finish the competitions leading goal kicker.

A return to EDFL footy and Tullamarine saw ex-Crow, Bomber and Saint Shaun McKernan, dominate the competition as the former AFL big man is named at centre half forward.

A breakout season for Ned Gentile saw the young Eagle take his game to another level in the forward pocket, with Westmeadows duo George Nabbout and Omar Saad also named in the forward line.

Cooper McPharlane also makes the team of the year for the Sunbury Kangaroos after being named in last season's Division Two Team of the Year with East Sunbury.

On the bench, Roxburgh Park skipper Jack Elliot is there to represent the Magpies, Airport West pair Lachlan Di Sebastiano and Ivan Pavlovic make the team and the Sunbury Kangaroos' John Corso rounds out the final 22.

The coach and captain of the Team of the Year will be announced at the EDFL Presentation Evening on September 21st.
