Strathmore's remarkable year at senior level has been capped off with two premiership Mores claiming league best-and-fairest medals at the EDFL Awards evening tonight at Moonee Valley Race Course.
Eloise Freeman added to her Airport Toyota Women's Division One premiership and best-on-ground medals with the Airport Toyota Women's Division One best-and-fairest, while Will July became Strathmore's newest R.S. Reynolds Medallist after Dale May last claimed the award back in 2006.
The growing medal count continued to climb for both players as the pair also claimed the respective men's and women's AGA Rising Star Award with both aged just 21 at the beginning of the season.
In Airport Toyota Women's Premier Division, Gemma Wright became the first two-time best-and-fairest winner in the competition's five-year history, going back-to-back on her 2021 efforts.
The Westmeadows star claimed the medal with 18 votes after playing all 14 home-and-away games and was also named captain in the Premier Division Team of the Year.
For Rookie Me Division One it was the story of the comeback kids, as Tyson Young and Shaun McKernan finished joint winners of the Hutchison Medal.
Both players returned to their junior clubs in Airport West and Tullamarine respectively after time away on vastly different football journeys.
For McKernan it was his first season back at the Demons after he played a solitary Under 18s game in 2007 before embarking on a 13-year AFL career at Adelaide, Essendon and St Kilda.
Young's return back to the club where he has well over 200 games to his name also saw him earn the captaincy in the Division One Team of the Year in a premiership season for the Eagles.
There were also joint winners in Strathmore Community Bank Division Two, as Jordan Hughes and Cooper Keogh shared the honour of being named the best players in the competition this year.
Keogh has been largely seen as one of the best big man in the competition with back-to-back Team of the Year honours as ruck while Hughes' efforts as a utility in a number of different roles helped Burnside Heights to a finals appearance in season 2022.
Airport West's Cheyene Macumber took home the Airport Toyota Women's Division Two best-and-fairest ahead of teammate Shaelene Montrose.
But the awards didn't stop there for the Eagles, as Airport West was named the 2022 EDFL Club of the Year.
A comprehensive premiership season for Rupertswood in the MCAP EDFL Netball competition ended on a further high as Kaila Saker edged out teammate Holly Keating by two votes to claim the comp best-and-fairest.
The Jack Harris Club Administrator of the Year went to Coburg Districts' Naomi Banks and Alex Turner was named the EDFL Umpire of the Year.
