Robbie Castello To Step Down As Marby Coach

Lions Hunting For New Coach

THE Maribyrnong Park Football Club today announced it is commencing its search for a new senior coach after Robbie Castello chose to step down from the role.

Work and personal commitments have restricted the playing coach to just eight games so far this year, with former Strathmore premiership coach Craig Clinnick taking the coaching reins when Castello has been unavailable.

“On behalf of the Maribyrnong Park Football Family may I pass on our thanks to Robbie for the time and commitment you have invested in the football club over the past five seasons, four of which have been as senior coach,” Lions president Doug Stevens said in a club statement.

“The opportunity to pursue your career aspirations is the right way for you and your familie’s (sic) future, and we wish you the best in all your future endeavours.

“Your contribution to this football club over the past years as a player and as a Coach cannot be under estimated and the club is all the better for your contribution.”

The Lions have begun advertising for Castello’s replacement.

On Saturday they’ll play their final home-and-away game for the season against Glenroy.
