EDFL Women’s Division Structure Confirmed For 2020

Third Division Introduced

SIGNIFICANT growth in participation has seen the EDFL Women’s competition expand from two senior divisions to three for the 2020 Season.

EDFL Women’s - Premier and EDFL Women’s - Division 1 will both feature eight teams in 2020, while the newly created EDFL Women’s - Division 2 is set to include nine teams.

While Airport West is the only established EDFL club fielding its inaugural women’s team this season, the league will also be welcoming Diggers Rest and the VU Western Spurs into EDFL Women’s ranks.

Diggers Rest, to be coached by Trent Hedges, will field its inaugural senior women’s team in Division 2, while the VU Western Spurs will return to EDFL ranks after last participating in the EDFL/WRFL combined competition in 2017.

The Spurs will be one of four clubs fielding two senior women’s sides in 2020, along with Aberfeldie, Hillside and Moonee Valley.
