Mores, Tigers Take The Points

Strathmore Holds On In Anzac Thriller At Glenroy

STRATHMORE has just scraped home for its second win of Season 2018 after overcoming Glenroy at Sewell Reserve.

Coach Nathan Grima played in his first game since joining the Mores and kicked the first goal of what was an entertaining opening term.

His side led at the first change by 10 before Glenroy got going in the second, kicking four goals to Strathmore’s two to go into the sheds up by two points at half time.

It remained tight after the main break in what was becoming a goal-for-goal shoot-out, but the Roys couldn’t keep up on the scoreboard in the final term as Strathmore wrestled their way back to the lead.

With Alex Grima snagging two in his best-on-ground performance and Will Jury, Kyle Weightman and Shane Foulds each chipping in with two of their own, the Mores kept Glenroy goalless in the last to run away with a very hard-fought 10-point win.

Against his old side, Adam Winter kicked three for Glenroy alongside Travis Dulic and Aaron Kite, who each got three of their own.

Final: Glenroy 13.7-85 def. by Strathmore 14.11-95

Swan, Clare, Sutcliffe Lead Tigers To Big Win Over Roos

Westmeadows is tonight in the Essendon Ford Division 1 top four after breaking away from an at times impressive Oak Park side in front of a huge crowd at Willowbrook Reserve.

The wayward Tigers trailed by 15 points at quarter time and 12 at the main break as poor set-shot kicking kept Oak Park ahead of the ledger during a fast and entertaining first half.

Entering time-on in the third, former Kangaroo Dean Clare slotted his first set shot of the game to put the Tigers in front and Westmeadows didn’t look back, going on to record an impressive 24-point win.

Clare was best-on-ground with six goals, taking him to the top of the Essendon Ford Division 1 goal kicking leaderboard with 15, while Dane Swan was again impressive with two goals and 25 disposals.

Down back, it was Brad Sutcliffe who starred.

Blair Cronin was one of Oak Park’s best with six goals of his own, while Danny Rajab, Kirk Lang and Mitch Robinson also impressed for the Kangaroos, who remain winless at 0-3.

Final: Westmeadows 14.17-101 def. Oak Park 12.7-79
