2020 Season Preview Series - Sunbury Kangaroos

#EDFL2020

2019 RECAP

After transferring over to the EDFL via the Riddell District league at the end of the 2018 season, the Sunbury Kangaroos went on to dominate the 2019 Strathmore Community Bank Division 2 season.

With a stacked line-up full of stars, the Kangaroos did not lose a single game on their way to premiership glory, earning promotion into Division 1 for the upcoming 2020 season.

Their final three games of the year were all against Moonee Valley, including the Qualifying Final and Grand Final, the latter in which Sunbury had to fight hard for its 16-point win at Windy Hill.

EDFL MEDIA SAYS

Sunbury's list of confirmed outs looks somewhat grim, with eight players that featured in last year's Division 2 premiership win not returning in 2020.

However, some very good players still remain, including skipper and key defender Daniel Gregory and key forward Josh Burgess, while Brenton Sutherland may be the best ruckman in Division 1.

Ex-Hawk and Magpie Clinton Young could play up to 10 games when his Williamstown commitments in the VFL allow, but given the Kangaroos are playing in their third different competition in three years, it's nearly impossible to predict how they'll go until we see them in action.
