THE EDFL has today informed clubs it will adopt the AFL’s ‘Final Eight’ system for this year’s EDFL Women's Finals Series.
The top eight EDFL Women’s teams after 13 home-and-away rounds will compete in this year’s finals series under the same format applied currently in the AFL.
A bye week will occur following Round 13 (Sunday July 15), with the EDFL Women’s Final Series to commence on the weekend of July 28-29.
Two qualifying finals will be played between first place and fourth place, then second place and third place.
Elimination finals will also be played on that weekend between fifth place and eighth place, then sixth place and seventh place.
The four-week finals series will conclude with the grand final to be played on the weekend of August 18-19 at a venue to be confirmed.

Week 1
Qualifying Final One – 1st v 4th
Qualifying Final Two –2nd v 3rd
Elimination Final One – 5th v 8th
Elimination Final 2 – 6th v 7th
Week 2
Semi-Final One – Loser of QF1 v Winner of EF1
Semi-Final Two – Loser of QF2 v Winner of EF2
Week 3
Preliminary Final One – Winner of QF1 v Winner of SF2
Preliminary Final Two – Winner of QF2 v Winner of SF1
Week 4
Grand Final – Winner of PF1 v Winner of PF2
