Sunbury 11.27.93 def. Tarneit 0.0.0
At Eric Boardman Reserve, Sunbury dominated the match and showed the rest of the competition that they mean serious business.
Even though Lillian Thomas played a great game for Tarneit, her team suffered another heavy loss.
The show was stolen by another great game from Sunbury’s Brodie-Paige Theodore, who was named best-on-ground for the second week in a row.
She booted three majors for the day, making a wonderful contribution towards her team’s 93-point victory.
Natalie East also had another great performance for the Lions, adding two goals to her name.
Sunbury could’ve stretched this margin beyond 100 if it wasn’t for their inaccurate kicking in front of goal.
At half time, the Lions had kicked five goals and 21 behinds, with 11 of those coming in the second quarter alone.
But they still recorded their biggest win of the season, which will boost their confidence for the season ahead.
Manor Lakes 20.18.138 def. Craigieburn 0.0.0
Manor Lakes continue to dominate in the EDFL & WRFL Senior Women’s Competition.
The Storm recorded their second consecutive win over 100 points - their third for the season. Craigieburn suffered their biggest loss of the season, and didn’t score for the first time in the competition.
The Eagles simply couldn’t match the poise of the Storm, who were relentless all day.
This time, it wasn’t Kellee McIntosh who booted a bag of goals for her side.
She still contributed to the mammoth total with three majors, but the she was outdone by teammate, Lindsay Newton.
Newton was unstoppable in front of goals, taking a leaf out of McIntosh’s book and booting 10 goals for the day.
The 138-point loss sees Craigieburn slide down to fifth on the ladder, putting their finals chances in jeopardy.
But Manor Lakes’ percentage boosted up to 681.03, helping them solidify their spot in the finals.
Pascoe Vale 1.0.6 def. by Caroline Springs 11.7.73
Pascoe Vale came into this match with a chance to bounce back from a disappointing loss against Craigieburn last week.
But Caroline Springs came over to Raeburn Reserve to spoil the party.
Shannon Gore was the Panthers’ only goal-scorer, and her goal came in the last quarter, meaning that Pascoe Vale was held scoreless for most of the day.
The Lakers took a 29-point lead into half time, but put their foot on the pedal in the third quarter.
Caroline Springs kicked four goals in the quarter to take the margin to 55 points, giving Pascoe Vale a very small chance to take back the reigns from a strong Caroline Springs outfit.
The Lakers ran away with the four points in emphatic style, recording a 68-point win to keep their finals hopes alive.
They face a tough challenge against Manor Lakes this week, in what will be a competitive match.
Keilor 23.14.152 def. Glen Orden 0.0.0
Keilor continue to rise to new heights in the EDFL & WRFL Senior Women’s Competition.
The Blues started dominating right from the opening siren, taking a 45-point lead into quarter time.
They piled on another seven goals in the second quarter to take the margin out to 88 points at the main break.
Keilor’s Sarah Wright and Robyn Foster were already having a day out by this point.
Glen Orden once again had no match for their opposition, as they couldn’t put a score on the board for a second week running.
This was because Keilor’s Brooke Todero gave the Hawks a real headache, as she continued her dominance in the forward line and ended up with six goals.
Best-on-ground, Sarah Wright ended up with four majors, while sister, Gemma kicked three.
The win keeps Keilor on the top of the ladder with a premiership in their sights.
Roxburgh Park 2.1.13 def. by VU Western Spurs 10.8.68
This looked like an intriguing match on paper, with both teams sharing relatively similar skill levels.
But the VU Western Spurs were the stronger team on the day, playing a wonderful first half and taking a 42-point lead into half time.
But credit deserves to go to Roxburgh Park, as they held the Spurs to just one goal in the third quarter, and also managed to put a major on the board themselves.
But this only seemed to fire up the Spurs, as they kicked three goals in the last quarter to take the final margin out to 75 points.
Tricia Devine worked hard for the Magpies all day and even registered a major, but it wasn’t enough to fight back against the resilience of the VU Western Spurs.
The Spurs face off against Pascoe Vale this week and would be looking to record their fourth win for the season.
