Round 15 Preview - Essendon Ford Division 1

By JACOB MANZIE

HILLSIDE v GLENROY – Radio Game

THIS could be an Essendon Ford Division 1 Grand Final preview.

Coming off a bye last week, Glenroy will be fresh and ready to take on Hillside on the road.

Hillside has no doubt been very strong in winning the last five games, and they haven’t seemed to crack once.

However, the bye may help Glenroy with their run-and-carry.

Seeing as the fight for top two is still ongoing, Hillside does have a bit to play for.

It will be interesting to watch how hard they come out at the first bounce.

Glenroy really doesn't have much to lose and they might look to rest some players, because neither team wants any injuries going into the huge finals series.

TAYLORS LAKES v OAK PARK

Sitting in fourth spot, one game ahead of Airport West, this game is a must-win for Taylors Lakes.

However, Oak Park have been in some winning form in recent weeks and won’t be easy to beat.

Taylors Lakes will have to be switched on from the first bounce and then for another two hours of tough football.

Oak Park has climbed their way up the Essendon Ford Division 1 ladder and now sit sixth.

A strong win against Airport West last week showed how much potential they have and they will be ready to go again this week as they will be full of confidence.

If the Kangaroos start strong like they did last weekend, the Lions may find themselves back in the mix.

AIRPORT WEST v WESTMEADOWS

A must-win game for Airport West if they want to have any chance of making finals.

Their last few weeks haven’t been as good as they would have hoped, which saw them drop the last couple of games, allowing for Taylors Lakes to swoop in and take their spot on the Essendon Ford Division 1 ladder.

This week isn’t going to be any easier for the Eagles.

Although Westmeadows hasn’t been too flash this season, they will come out firing knowing what Airport West is playing for.

Dave Connell’s men also want to make something out of the 2017 season.

Seeing as they will face the top two sides in the last two rounds, the Eagles will definitely need to pick up the points here if they want to finish above Taylors Lakes in the final four.

It is going to be very interesting to see who wins this game.

HADFIELD v EAST KEILOR

After what has been a very long season for Hadfield, they would love to make something of it here.

East Keilor hasn’t been the best along the way either, and it will make for a good clash at Martin Reserve.

However, their last two wins have been courageous.

Knocking off Airport West and then Taylors Lakes has shown how much talent the Cougars have.

It’s a shame that they have left it to the back end of the season.

If Hadfield come out firing from the first bounce, they could do anything.

They have some potential throughout the side, and there is a small chance for an upset.
