Round 13 Preview - Essendon Ford Division 1

By JACOB MANZIE

GLENROY v TULLAMARINE

AS Hillside jumped ahead of Tullamarine last week, it is a big game for the Demons if they want the second chance come September.

It will be interesting to see how this game pans out in the lead up to the finals, as they will most likely meet again.

Tullamarine definitely have the calibre to grab the four points, but it won’t be easy.

After an upset loss to Taylors Lakes last week, they will be ready to fight back this weekend.

Glenroy still sit on top of the Essendon Ford Division 1 ladder comfortably, and nothing has really seemed to worry them this year.

However, if there is going to be anyone that's going to beat them, Tullamarine are the ones.

They will be hungry to get that second spot back.

HILLSIDE v OAK PARK

Oak Park’s season hasn’t gone as they would have planned, while Hillside have a massive chance come September as they are well-positioned to finish in the top four.

Sitting sixth with four wins and six losses after Round 12, Oak Park would love to win this to gain some confidence.

However, the game is still important for Hillside, sitting on equal points after taking Tullamarine’s spot over the weekend, they would definitely like to give themselves every chance to secure a top two spot.

As well as the double chance.

Last time the two met it went right down to the wire, with Hillside taking the four points by two kicks.

This time around it is going to be interesting, knowing Oak Park would be eager to take home the win.

However, Hillside should be able to stay in control.

AIRPORT WEST v EAST KEILOR

In the context of Season 2017, this will be one of the biggest games of the year.

Airport West currently sit in fourth and hold their finals spot.

But with a big win to the Lions last weekend against Tullamarine, Airport West is no guarantee to be there come the finals.

The only thing separating the Eagles and Lions is percentage.

East Keilor will want that spot for their chance to play on the big stage come the end of the season.

Airport West will come in confident coming off a big win against Hadfield last week, which would have helped some players find some good form.

The last time the two met, the Eagles were too strong, winning comfortably.

This weekend’s game is going to be huge.

TAYLORS LAKES v HADFIELD

This is a must-win for Taylors Lakes in what should be a relatively easy win for the home side.

They would not want an upset.

Hadfield have nothing to lose, and winning this weekend will affect Taylors Lakes’ chances of making the finals.

Hadfield are yet to get the points this year, with the season not going the way they could have hoped, they can only try to grab a win now.

Taylors Lakes know what is at stake, and how big each win is to make sure they are there come finals.

Coming off a strong win last week against third-placed Tullamarine, they wouldn’t want to get over-confident.

They should not take a desperate Hadfield lightly.
