CAMERON Wood has capped off a wonderful first year at Avondale Heights by claiming the club's best-and-fairest gong.
The 30-year-old ex-AFL ruckman was one of the boom recruits of the EDFL coming into 2017 and although his side failed to make finals in Strathmore Community Bank Premier Division, Wood certainly made a solid impression.
Wood played in all 18 home-and-away games for Avondale Heights during the year and quickly asserted himself as the premier ruckman of the competition, eventually getting the nod as the starting ruck in the Premier Division Team of the Year - which is voted on by the senior coaches of the division.
He also kicked eight goals and was named in Avondale Heights' best 12 times from his 18 appearances.
Club stalwart Mathew Cravino ran second, only two votes behind Wood, while Charlie Nastasi - fourth in the Reynolds Medal - finished third.
