IT WAS a great day for football at Keilor Park as the Devils went to battle with Jacana.
The wind favoured Jacana in the first quarter and they capitalised on it, kicking the first goal of the game.
Keilor Park kept up with Jacana, however, scoring their first goal through Aiden Cassar.
Jacana was very inaccurate during the quarter, kicking seven behinds.
The goal drought during the opening quarter was finally ended when Bryce Kimulitas kicked a goal.
Jacana’s defence, led by Dylan Wolfgramm, was solid in the first quarter but both teams were turning the ball over constantly in an even midfield battle.
Jacana went into quarter time leading by 17 points.
Keilor Park attacked hard early in the second quarter.
Jacana’s defence were again putting on a magnificent display of their talents only allowing Keilor Park to score points early on.
Kirk Wintels scored the first goal of the quarter thanks to a 50-metre penalty very late in the quarter.
The Devils epitomised the notion that the best defence is good offence as they attacked and kept the ball in their half of the ground almost all quarter.
Jacana only managed a single point in the term and surrendered their first-quarter lead, going into halftime facing a seven-point deficit.
Jake Galizia got the ball rolling in the second half, scoring a great snap goal that was assisted by a lucky bounce.
Jacana then took the front with another two quick goals from Daniel Arnold and Galizia again.
This set up the rest of their quarter as they attacked and held Keilor Park goalless.
Keilor Park lost the lead they worked hard to attain in the second quarter and went into the final change down by 15 points.
Going into the last quarter both teams knew that they had to shake their inaccurate kicking habits.
The Devils scored the first two goals but then the Jaguars responded with two of their own.
Keilor Park kept missing on front of the sticks – much to the frustration of the crowd who were lively throughout the whole game.
The Devils did manage to keep clawing their way back, however, and managed to steal the win over a very dejected Jacana.
It was Jacana’s second one-point loss of the season and Keilor Park’s second one-point win.
