By JULIA MONTESANO

SUNBURY 6.4-40 def. CRAIGIEBURN 0.3-3

Game Details

SUNBURY continued its great run home with another important win on the weekend.

At home, the Lions ran onto the ground with a mission to make a statement in the last home-and-away match of the season.

Sunbury got off to a slow start against Craigieburn, as the Eagles held the home side to just one goal in the first quarter.

Unfortunately, the away side couldn’t capitalise on their solid defensive work and were scoreless at half time, facing a deficit of 20 points.

The Lions never really took a fierce command on the game, but still did enough to score another comfortable win.

In the end, the margin was 37 points, meaning that Sunbury finish third on the ladder.

On the day, the home side kicked six goals, three of which came from Iesha Lauaki.

Even though Samantha French produced another best-on-ground performance for the Eagles, it wasn’t enough to gift her team with a finals berth.

MANOR LAKES 2.4-16 def. by KEILOR 16.11-107

Game Details

A blockbuster match was set up for the ladder leaders, with Manor Lakes and Keilor both scoring massive wins throughout the season.

But it was Keilor who kicked off the game with a four-goal first quarter and didn’t look back, dominating Manor Lakes all over the ground.

The Storm simply couldn’t combat the pressure applied by Keilor’s Jill McBain and Kallyn Gent, who have been solid performers for the Blues all year.

But once again it was the Wright sisters who shone amongst the pack, with Sarah kicking four goals and Gemma kicking two.

Both girls were named in the best-on-ground votes and look set to continue to assert their dominance in the finals.

On the day, the Blues were too strong for their fellow premiership contenders, scoring a massive 91-point win.

Keilor go into the finals undefeated and will play Manor Lakes again next week, who will be keen to get revenge on the Blues.

PASCOE VALE 15.9-99 def. GLENROY 4.4-28

Game Details

Pascoe Vale saved its most dominant performance until the last round of the season, getting a massive win over a formidable Glenroy outfit.

The home side welcomed the inclusion of Vic Metro superstar, Sarah Dargan, who booted three goals for the day in the red and black.

The Panthers booted five goals alone in the first quarter and by half time, they took their margin out to 49 points.

Glenroy had no answer for the home side, as Pascoe Vale continued to kick away in the second half.

While the Roys did well to get four goals on the board, the Panthers were just too strong from the start.

Ashleigh Ford was the best amongst the Panthers, while Stephanie Normington-Dickens produced a stellar performance in the forward line, registering four majors for the day.

In the end, they won by a whopping 71 points, which allowed the Panthers to finish their season on a high note.

TARNEIT 1.2-8 def. by CAROLINE SPRINGS 10.13-73

Game Details

Caroline Springs have been playing a solid brand of football all season and on Sunday, it was no different.

The Lakers didn’t let Tarneit score until the fourth quarter and while their defence was solid, it was their attack which took the match a part.

Caroline Springs scored goals consistently, kicking three each quarter and not letting Tarneit into the game.

Usual suspect, Caitlin Pretty kicked three of her own majors in another wonderful display for the Lakers.

But the duo of Krystyn Raymundo and Carissa Whiley stood out once again, as the girls continue to produce best-on-ground performances for Caroline Springs.

The 65-point win gives the Lakers every bit of confidence to cause an upset against Sunbury in the semi-finals.

ROXBURGH PARK 3.6-24 def. GLEN ORDEN 1.1-7

Game Details

It has been a disappointing season for Roxburgh Park, but on Sunday, the Magpies grasped the opportunity to finish their season on a high note.

With Roxburgh Park sitting ninth and Glen Orden sitting 10th on the ladder, the match was always going to go down to the wire.

But the home side had different plans, leaving the Hawks scoreless until three-quarter time.

Even though the Magpies only kicked three goals for the day, they still managed to come away from the match with a 17-point win.

Tricia Devine was the sole trooper in the forward line, kicking two of Roxburgh Park’s three goals.

Emily Thurau-Clayton produced another wonderful performance for the Magpies, while captain, Cheree Spowart also featured in the votes.
