SUNBURY 0.1-1 def. by KEILOR 20.18-138
IN a highly anticipated match, it was a highly unexpected result at Clarke Oval.
The Blues kicked off the match with an eight-goal first quarter, leaving the home side stunned.
At this point, the game already seemed over before it even began, as Sunbury faced the huge task of coming back from a 51-point margin.
Keilor took the half-time margin out to 81 points and another five goals in the third term saw Sunbury’s deficit stretch out beyond 100 points.
Jess Atta was the leading goal-scorer for the Blues, adding four majors next to her name.
But it was the Wright sisters who dominated once again for the Blues, with Gemma and Sarah both among the goals, and the best players.
Now that they have beaten the other premiership favourites in Manor Lakes and Sunbury, the Blues are now red-hot favourites to go all the way.
VU WESTERN SPURS 8.9-57 def. GLEN ORDEN 1.0-6
It was a much-needed win for the Spurs, who were in desperate need of a confidence-booster to get their season back on track.
Glen Orden was seeking its second win of the season, but its hopes were outdone by the poise shown by the home side.
The VU Western Spurs kicked into gear from the start, and continued to put the foot on the accelerator throughout the match.
Sarah Roynane impressed for the Spurs, and was complemented by a wonderful performance by Bec Bliss.
Jacinta Ganino once again played another great game for the Spurs, and was a key contributor in her side’s 51-point win.
The impressive display sees the Spurs go into Round 12 with a new-found belief to finish off their rollercoaster season in style.
CAROLINE SPRINGS 6.8-44 def. CRAIGIEBURN 0.3-3
Caroline Springs continue to play an exciting brand of football, and this time, it was the Eagles who were the passengers.
A convincing two-goal first quarter kicked the day off for the Lakers, as they were looking to record their sixth win of the season.
A slow second quarter left them scoreless, but Caroline Springs fought back with a three-goal third quarter to take the margin beyond a Craigieburn comeback.
Laker, Caitlin Pretty did all the damage, kicking five of her team’s six goals in her most instrumental performance of the season.
Usual standouts, Krystyn Raymundo and Carissa Whiley once again featured in the best for Caroline Springs.
For the Eagles, it was Maria Va’Auli who was the standout performer for the day, despite her team’s 42-point loss.
Caroline Springs now have a handy bye, and will go into Round 12 sitting fourth on the ladder.
TARNEIT 0.3-3 def. by GLENROY 6.9-45
The Titans went into the match with all the belief that they could cause an upset at Wooten Road Reserve.
With the margin sitting at just 21 points at half time, the day certainly wasn’t over for Tarneit.
Their deficit stayed the same at three-quarter time, as the Titans stopped Glenroy’s run, and kept the away side scoreless.
Whilst the scoreless quarter was beneficial for Tarneit, they couldn’t capitalise, as the Roys eventually ran away with the four points.
The 41-point margin wasn’t the Titans’ biggest loss of the season, which acts as a step of improvement for the struggling side.
Tarneit’s step of improvement wouldn’t have been made possible without the good work of Kiera Herbert and Emily Dunstan, who worked tirelessly all day.
Unfortunately, their efforts weren’t enough to secure a win for the Titans, as Glenroy proved too good on the day.
ROXBURGH PARK 0.0-0 def. by MANOR LAKES 20.13-133
Manor Lakes continued their premiership surge at Lakeside Oval, recording another mammoth win.
The Storm never let their guard down throughout the match, and sent a massive warning to the rest of the competition.
Roxburgh Park had no match for Manor Lakes’ experienced and skilful display of football.
Away from home, the Storm put a whopping 20 goals on the board in what was another solid display in the forward line.
Despite another great game from Magpie, Tricia Devine and a convincing performance from Emily Thurau-Clayton, the task was too much for Roxburgh Park to overcome.
In the end, Manor Lakes ran over the top of the home side by another margin that exceeded 100 points.
The win sees the Storm consolidate second spot on the ladder, and it also gives them a healthy percentage boost ahead of Round 12.
