The Essendon District Football League would like to congratulate former EDFL umpire Jack Howard on making his AFL debut on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.
Jack was promoted to the AFL list at the end of the 2024 season and proudly wore the famous number 18, previously worn by Ray Chamberlain.
His journey to the top has been built on years of dedication and hard work.
After starting his career as an EDFL Senior umpire, Jack was elevated to the VFL at the end of 2016.
Since then, he has officiated in nearly 100 senior VFL games and earned the honour of umpiring the past two VFL Grand Finals — a testament to his consistent excellence.
Congratulations once again, Jack, a well-deserved debut!
