FIVE former EDFL players will join AFLW ranks in 2020.
Former West Coburg and Pascoe Vale junior Georgia Patrikios was taken at Pick 5 by St Kilda after producing a solid 2019 season that saw the 18-year-old represent the Calder Cannons, Vic Metro and Essendon at VFL level.
Patrikios put her name up in lights while playing for Vic Metro this year, being named the player of the tournament at the Under 18 National Championships on the Gold Coast.
Four picks later, Elisabeth Georgostathis was picked up by the Western Bulldogs after making seven VFL appearances with the club in 2019, including the grand final.
Georgostathis played 13 games with the VU Western Spurs in 2017, where she tied for the EDFL’s Under 18 Girls Best & Fairest award with 15 votes.
In the second round of selections, Keilor sister act Sarah and Gemma Wright were both swept up within three picks of each other.
Sarah was the first to go at Pick 32, being selected by North Melbourne before Gemma’s name was read out by Geelong at Pick 34.
Both were part of Keilor’s undefeated run in the 2017 EDFL/WRFL Senior Women’s competition, with Sarah also claiming that competition’s Best & Fairest award.
In 2019, both played for Carlton in the VFL Women’s competition.
Finally at Pick 78, Krstel Petrevski was the second Pascoe Vale junior taken in today’s draft, with the 18-year-old finding her way to Melbourne.
Petrevski split her time between Pascoe vale, the Calder Cannons and Essendon in 2019.
